The eldorado name plate was used the top of line cadillac's for the first couple generations. Starting in 1971 the eldorado would take on its 7th rendition and became what most people know as a cadillac. Big, comfortable, and just more of everything in general was the new cadillac. The eldorado had grown to an astonishing 19 ft and looking even longer when the custom fender skirts were added. The new style did wonders for sales with over 51k being sold in 73 it seemed that everything was going great. In 76 gm heavily promoted the eldorado as the last american convertible making many purchase them as investments. This one is a very good example of that. With the car having only 77028 actual miles this cadillac will go great in any collection or garage. The paint is original in a rich white, the body is excellent condition. Pop the hood and the huge rebuilt 500 ci motor looks right at home and even has room to spare. The chrome bumper upfront is in good condition and is a quality piece that only fleetwood could produce. The tan leather is in exceptional condition with the padding and cushion being just as nice. Please note new ac controls will need to be purchased. As general motors eliminated convertibles from their model line up across the board by 1975, only cadillac would be selected for the final convertible offering in 1976. They would be advertised heavily as the last convertible with an emphasis on collectability early on. Orders were strong and capped at 14,000 units in the end. To celebrate the country's 200th birthday, the final 200 examples would be made special to commemorate the occasion. Each would be exactly the same in presentation, fully loaded with all options, and badged accordingly! Only 199 of the production examples would go on to owners, as the final #200 would go directly to the gm heritage center to be placed in the permanent museum collection. Many sold originally at 4-5 times their sticker price! Since it was supposed to be the last of the of the bread some of these cars were put away by collectors. Such is the case with this very special example. This highly original eldorado has only 2500 miles on it. Thats correct, 2500 miles! It has been perfectly preserved over the years as well as being properly maintained. This car also has modern radial tires so driving it is an absolute pleasure. It needed very little service work because it was evident that recent work had been done. This car rides and drives and has an overall feel of a 2500 mile car. It is tight and smooth and most of the controls feel like they are barely worn in. Everything in the car works as it should and even the air conditioning is blowing hard and cold. It is hard to describe every detail of this car because it is so exceptional. In summary, this car shows as new. Even the original top shows virtually no wear on it. All of the chrome and paint are free of any flaws. The paint shines as it should and looks as it did when i was in the showroom in 1976. The interior is all original and shows as if it has never been used. Its really close to flawless. The leather has never had any dye on it and the seats feel like they have never been sat in. As expected, there is no warping on the dash and no cracks anywhere. It was ordering with the two most popular options, 50/50 split front seat, as well as tilt/telescope steering wheel. This eldorado is for the collector/enthusiast/connoisseur who is looking for the finest example they can find. It is an ideal car to ad any collection.
