The eldorado name plate was used the top of line cadillac's for the first couple generations. Starting in 1971 the eldorado would take on its 7th rendition and became what most people know as a cadillac. Big, comfortable, and just more of everything in general was the new cadillac. The eldorado had grown to an astonishing 19 ft and looking even longer when the custom fender skirts were added. The new style did wonders for sales with over 51k being sold in 73 it seemed that everything was going great. In 76 gm heavily promoted the eldorado as the last american convertible making many purchase them as investments. This one is a very good example of that. With the car having only 77028 actual miles this cadillac will go great in any collection or garage. The paint is original in a rich white, the body is excellent condition. Pop the hood and the huge rebuilt 500 ci motor looks right at home and even has room to spare. The chrome bumper upfront is in good condition and is a quality piece that only fleetwood could produce. The tan leather is in exceptional condition with the padding and cushion being just as nice. Please note new ac controls will need to be purchased. As general motors eliminated convertibles from their model line up across the board by 1975, only cadillac would be selected for the final convertible offering in 1976. They would be advertised heavily as the last convertible with an emphasis on collectability early on. Orders were strong and capped at 14,000 units in the end. To celebrate the country's 200th birthday, the final 200 examples would be made special to commemorate the occasion. Each would be exactly the same in presentation, fully loaded with all options, and badged accordingly! Only 199 of the production examples would go on to owners, as the final #200 would go directly to the gm heritage center to be placed in the permanent museum collection. Many sold originally at 4-5 times their sticker price!
