It has matching frame, motor and transmission numbers. These early Commandos did not have a VIN plate riveted on the frame as the later ones used, the numbers were stamped directly onto the frame headstock. This Norton has retained the Atlas model type unpolished valve covers, as cast and un-chromed footrest supports, brake, shift and starter levers that were used on these very early Commandos Chain Transmission

Principally, the ignition points were moved from a chain-driven jackshaft behind the cylinders (where the magneto had been on the 750cc Atlas) to the end of the camshaft to simplify the design and make the points easier to service. The tachometer drive, previously taken off the end of the camshaft, moved inboard, with the tach cable now coming off the front of the engin. The main things that aren't original on the bike are the SS tank (very rare), bar end mirrors, single Mikuni carb, and electronic ignition. Everything on this bike works, including all switches and lights/signals. The combination of the single modern Mikuni carb and the Boyer electronic ignition makes this bike very reliable Electric Engine
