Compression tests good at 132 Right and 127 Left. Running "Project Bike" 1973 R75/5 Long Wheel Base Running and Rideable "Project Bike". Starts and runs fine. 1973 BMW R75/5 LWB. There are minor oil leaks we noticed while we were getting it running and where parked since; the engine should be resealed before extensive riding. Original Aluminum front turn signals and mounts included. Spare good wire harness included needs installed for lights to work. Rideable as-is but not legal with lights and signals working. 1973 bmw r75/5 long wheel based toaster tank airhead motorcycle for sale. I bought this bike along with a 1972 short wheel base toaster last august. I prefer the swb one, so am selling this one. I have ridden this bike only a dozen times in the last year. It is in very good shape considering its age and would make for a great custom project or keeping it vintage as-is. Recently re-tuned up and ready to ride. All original parts, except for handlebars and starter, which have been updated. Chrome is good, especially on the toaster panels. Paint is good, with minor scratches, and a small chip in the paint on the front fender. Leather seat is flawless. Speedometer does not work and is missing the needle. New battery and tires. The engine received a complete rebuild 2 years ago and runs great. Me/williamderbylocal pick up only, but i can assist with shipping pick up.

We have made a very temporary patch on the mufflers with several layers of aluminum tape so we could test ride the bike. While we had the swingarm loose for the transmission work we went ahead and serviced both the front and rear wheelbearings another specialized job needed on most older BMWs. We cleaned and inspected the clutch and installed a stronger more reliable rear pressure ring. the rear seat hinge needs replaced. Has Ignition â Keyâ / Light switch knob but does not have flat key to lock steering neck or seat. Needs battery and the rest of a Major Service. Starts easily runs well. 1973 BMW R75/5 SOLD!!..... Then click on the larger photo on the right to see it in a full screen pop-up window. We got this BMW in on a trade-in and don't have time immediately to give it the end-to-end deep service that we do on most BMWs that we sell. While we had it out we pulled the clutch and flywheel and installed a new rear main seal and oil pump oâ ring. Bike has a tool tray no tool kit. Running "Project Bike" 2991926 1973 R75/5 SWB "Toaster" Tank. the clutch works well and the transmission shifts well. http://picturepush.com/ xVFG Click on one of the thumbnail photos on the left to see it larger on the right. Since it takes special tools to fix the weak spring on the transmission shifter we went ahead and pulled the transmission opened it up cleaned and inspected fixed the shifter spring installed all new seals and resealed the back cover. Both original BMW Cigar shaped /5 mufflers are rotting out on the bottom. Because both tires were very old and cracked we mounted and balanced a newer set of used Metzeller tires while we had the wheels off the bike. Some oil leaks from pushrod tube seals on left should be fixed before extended miles. Running and rideable "Project Bike". Mpg movies of starting and riding the bike scroll to the bottom of the thumbnails and click on each of the last 3 thumbnails. 1973 R75/5 SWB "Toaster" Tank. Matching VIN numbers clear title. We have rebuilt the carburetors tuned the motor and changed oil and filter on the motor and changed the gear oil on the transmission driveshaft and final drive. Blue paint rather faded on the tank. Now that we have fixed the things that required special tools or special skills and knowledge somebody mechanically handy should easily be able to get this bike to dependable travel-worthy condition. the rear of seat has tape patch; needs re-covered. Since it takes special tools to fix the weak spring on the transmission shifter we went ahead and pulled the transmission opened it up cleaned and inspected fixed the shifter spring installed all new seals and resealed the back cover.
