1980 bmw r65 airhead for sale. Starts, runs and stops well. Great bike in good shape for the year. Pros:-starts right up and runs well. Typical for the age of the bike (pictured).-developed a small noise when going over big bumps in the rear. Looks like rear shocks could use some new bushings before next season. Presently it has “break-in” oil, 30 non-detergent is what i generally use for the first 300 to 500 miles till the rings seat and the bike is used to running. Modifications and/or Repairs: Frame and swing arms media blasted, zinc primed and painted Granada Red. I will run the bike long enough to put a few miles on it and make sure everything is fine, then re-set the carburetors and re-torque the heads

Selling my pristine and distinctive 1980 bmw r65, with less than 10 thousand original miles. A true classic, old enough (37 years old) to really capture the essence and simplicity of a classic bike, yet new enough to feature certain luxuries like an electric starter and front disk brake. Of the generation of motorcycles that bmw built its reputation for reliability upon, this motorcycle has been very reliable and runs perfectly. Very lightweight, the bike is ideal for spirited riding through the twisties, yet comfortable and planted, suitable for longer rides. The tank, side panels, rear panel and fender have all been restored within the past two years, as well as a major service conducted by the dealer, including a valve adjustment, rebuilding the front brake and more. These desirable models are appreciating in value, rather than depreciating and this example is perfect for anyone interested in capitalizing on this trend. The bike is in absolutely excellent condition, however, the seat and only the seat requires restoration. Patching it or replacing the material are potential solutions. The seat aside, this bike is in show condition. Other than the restored paint and the rear shocks, i believe the bike to be otherwise entirely original. This air-cooled boxer is far more agile than its bigger siblings, due to its shorter wheelbase and better frame geometry. As enjoyable as it is to ride, it's just as pleasing to look at. It has the single, original key which uniquely folds, as well as the metal tag required to produce a duplicate. Selling below value because i have my eye on another bike, and need the space for it. This 1980 BMW R65 is in excellent mechanical & cosmetic condition, with clear title, very low mileage, original owner’s manual and complete mint tool kit with rap, perfect seat, excellent original chrome and paint; new shocks, battery, starter & front brakes. The tires and rims are in excellent condition (lots of tread). Horn is missing (easily replaced) and the wires are intact. It is very hard to find a R65 of this vintage in such excellent condition

Chrome Performance shocks with individual spring and rebound damping adjustments have been installed. the saddlebag locks all work and have a key. the exhaust is solid with some staining on the headers but the mufflers are very nice. the carbs were rebuilt front Master Cylinder rebuilt installed a braided stainless front brake line front Steering Bearings replaced. There is only 1 mirror in the photos but we plan to find a matching pair to install. the front forks were inspected and found good. the bike had an aftermarket ignition system that was not functioning properly so we removed it and replaced it with good used and tested OE components. Then scroll down to the bottom right and click on the word â Fullâ . This bike is perfect for a entry level rider or for any rider who finds most BMWs are â too tallâ to straddle comfortably. Finally we performed the full BMW Factory recommended 10K Service and put some test ride miles on the bike. We de-carboned the heads lapped the valves replaced the rings and resealed the top end. We have extensively reconditioned this bike. We also replaced the cam chain and tensionor and front seals plus installed a new rear main seal and oil pump Oâ ring. the seat has a custom cover. There are duplicate keys for the bike. Then click on the larger photo on the right to see it in a full screen pop-up window. This 1983 BMW R65 is fully serviced and ready to ride. There are a few typical small chips and scratches in the paint but they have been well touched up and are not easily noticed. There is a tool tray but it has had some corner repairs; solid but not pretty.

Motorcycles Other DX5631161624338526640166348 DX1 . the bike would make an excellent commuter or a weekend getaway bike. the keys work on the ignition and the seat lock but not the steering neck lock and the fuel cap. There is a tool tray and ownerâ s book but no tool kit or tire pump. We will install a new battery before sale. the shorter wheelbase makes it really hug the tight curves the lower seat height makes this bike perfect for an average sized female rider or for a height challenged male. We changed out the body for good used set of bright blue panels that are still shinny. We have gone over this bike thoroughly to make it safe & reliable. the 650cc engine provides plenty of power to ride two normal size adults on the freeway and still easily keep up with traffic. We did a BMW Factory (10K) Major Service plus we rebuilt the front forks installed new steering neck bearings cleaned the carburetors mounted and balanced new Metzeller tires and serviced the tachometer. the bike had a good solid body set that was hand painted with shaker can blue; a really horrible quality paint job and the battery covers were missing. the engine starts easily warms up quickly and settles down to a nice smooth idle. the motor is tight no leaks. 1983 BMW R65 REDUCED $3950!.... All the control cables are in excellent condition. All the electrics work properly. the clutch works properly the transmission shifts properly.
