Porsche and the 944 served a need for the company and its customers when it introduced the 944 to the market in 1982. It was to provide a less expensive car but to also keep the customers coming into the showroom that could not afford the pricier 911. With doing this porsche partnered up with vw and rolled out a front engine setup that was taken in high expectations from the public and its dealer network. For the 1987 model year, the 944s super was introduced. The 944s featured a high performance naturally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 190 ps (140 kw; 187 hp) version of the 2. 5 l engine (m44/40) featuring a self-adjusting timing belt tensioner. This well preserved 1988 porsche 944 s was delivered new out of williams autoworld in lansing mi and remained in michigan area for most of its life. The car was routinely serviced by the dealer for service and warranty work. The vehicle was optioned from the factory with the charleston radio, protective side moldings, rear wiper, automatic speed control, 16 ventiler insignia, sunroof, and leather seats. Car retains the iconic 15in phone dial wheels and all other factory features. This clean car has not fallen prey to the aftermarket mods or neglected by the 16yr old drivers. It runs strong, looks great and comes with some service records, clean title, and owners manuals. These cars are one of the few left to not take a significant bounce in values like other porsches, but many rumblings have been heard that these and the 924 will start to climb rapidly over the next few years.
