Seller's comments and description: 1966 porsche 912 karmann coupe. Matching numbers with 5-speed transmission. This car was built october 27, 1965 with features found only on the very early cars, non-adjustable front struts, 4-screw horn grilles, washer bag in right front fender, vin plate between smugglers box and vin stamp. Other notable differences were chrome bumper over-riders without rubber pads, black textured surface beneath bonnet, black behind horn grilles, satin black beneath engine grille. I purchased this car restored and have been correcting some of the details that were not correct during my ownership and now have the car where it should be with the exception of the seats. This car features hyper-rare factory sport seats from 1967, their value alone is estimated over $10k, this has been verified by many in the porsche community. The silver metallic/96024 paint is the original color and very rare for the 1966 cars, apparently only 3% were done in silver metallic. The previous owner found minor imperfections in the paint so he had the body stripped to bare metal, windows out and resprayed to a very high standard. During my ownership i changed the incorrect fuchs to correct date-stamped (08/65), 4 1/2x15 chrome wheels. The 4 mounted on the car are lemmerz, the spare is a kpz also dated 08/65. The wheels were refurbished by bolton's, one of the best in the business. Tires are new vredestein sprint classic 165 hr15 radials. I changed the later style rubber bumper over riders for the chrome units. The bonnet badge was changed to the correct orange bar unit, original, not a reproduction and has wonderful patina. I installed a new german square weave trunk carpet set from autos international. I removed the incorrect h4 headlights and installed a perfectly restored set of correct headlights from john audette, one of the best for lights and turn signals. It did need the solex carbs rebuilt, those were done by eurometrics and had the wrong distributor, it now has the correct bosch 022 unit. Chrome Wheels

Low mile rust free original survivor. A little history on the car. Very rare 1965 production date 3 gauge 5 speed near mint 912. The car still has its original license plates that now have collector tabs on them. I bought this car from the original owner. The car had been sitting in the back of his shop on jack stands with a car cover over it before i bought it. It was emotional for the owner and his wife to sell the car as he bought it brand new of the lot in 1966 when they both were in college. He had stored for the last 25 years in a heated garage on jack stands before i bought it. The car has always been garaged since it was new. The 912 is all original except for a repaint and new interior carpet. The car is in near mint original condition. I completely went through all systems of the car that would have been affected by its long term storage. No expense or amount of labor invested was spared. The top end was rebuilt before it was stored in 1988 by the original owner. A new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing wear installed at the time of the top end rebuild. I had my mechanic do a compression check when i bought the car. I had the gas tank removed and professionally cleaned. All new fuel lines were installed. The original carbs were completely rebuilt. The wheel bearings were greased front and rear. Gold line is the best in the business when it comes to rebuilding brakes. New rubber brake lines, master cylinder, and brake pads were installed. The rotors were machined and wheel bearings were all inspected and greased along with new wheel seals front and rear. I had the original generator rebuilt by art's electric. I replaced the original voltage regulator recently as well. New shift rod bushings and shift coupler. I use only non ethanol gas in the car. The car runs, drives, stops like new. The car still has its correct michelin xzx 165 sr 15 inch tires with tubes. I was told by a porsche tech they are original, how ever i have not confirmed that. The original wheels are in perfect condition including the spare. The spare tire still has never been used as it still has the original nubs on the tire. I have the original tool kit and jack that goes with the car. The interior is in mint condition. I had the original seat padding replaced with exact reproduction seat cushions by sierra madre. The rare original cloth insert seat upholstery were reinstalled over the new seat cushions. The original rubber mats are excellent. Perfect dash, headliner, door panels, interior panels, ect, ect.. I did replace the carpet and trunk carpet with reproduction carpeting in the correct color bought from pelican parts. The car has had one very high quality repaint some time in the 80's in the correct color of polo red. I just rebuilt the wiper system / linkage with all new brass and plastic bushings. The car is pristine. The car has no rust or accident history do to the meticulous care of the original owner. The car has been garaged its whole life by the original owner and my self. The door and body gaps are perfect. The body is arrow strait. The doors shut with the distinctive "porsche ping". The undercarriage is spotless, factory undercoating is excellent... Do to the car being garaged it is as rust free as they come. The porsche runs and drives perfect. All work listed was professionally done with receipts for documentation. This car has been a part of my car collection for many years. This is a investment grade example of a mint original 912, the nicest i have ever seen. I am considering selling my car to the next care taker as i have acquired new cars for my collection and am running out of space. A very early production porsche 912. A few were built with 3 gauge dash. After the first batch of production, they went to the 5 gauge dash as it stayed till the end of the run three years later. This 912 restoration started with a very straight porsche 912. It has been painted with the slate gray porsche color. Original color according to vinplate is irish green. There is no sign of original color anywhere as doors, trunk, fenders and hood were taken off for an excellent result. The interior is all new porsche red and correct carpet. All rubber, chrome, trim is new or re-chromed. Glass is all original. The engine number and transmission are shown in pictures. The following mechanical works have been performed by a professional shop (precession motion). 1- rebuilt original carbs 2- al new brakes and components. 3- new clutch and cable 4- new belts and complete tune. 5- all fluids changed and car tested on long drives. 6- new tires and re-chromed original wheels.
