For sale is my 1956 mga 1500 roadster, red with black interior. Very nice older ground up restoration completed a few years back. Pictures and documents included that establish the car’s history. Recent additional work include: brakes/lines, clutch slave cylinder, lights, chrome package, su fuel pump, tires, and so many extras. Side curtains are included. Car shows and drives very well with excellent oil pressure and no smoke. There are two areas where the paint has blistered but does not detract from the car’s appearance (see pics of hood and lower trunk). Seat upholstery and top are excellent. Door panels and carpet are presentable but not correct. The battery compartment shows typical corrosion and will need to be repaired. Also, please view pictures that illustrate hundreds of additional mg parts included in this auction. 3 pallets of parts that include: tranny, blocks (x2), pumps, starter, lamps, rims, gauges, radiator…parts alone are worth a couple thousand.

Seller's comments and description: 1956 mg mga roadster convertible that is a fun driver. 1956 was the first model year for the mga in america but offered in england in mid 1955. Left hand thin steering wheel. Has almost new black vinyl convertible top with unrestored side windows and newer shiny steel exhaust system. Oil pressure and water temperature are good as those gauges work. Speedometer and trip odometer works too, steering is tight, road ride is normal, a real sports car feel. This is a 4 cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission on the floor. It has a slight syncronizer noise when in neutral but clutch is good and shifts normal to me for a 60 year old sports car. Good shiny red paint done several years ago. Bodywork is good with no rust. This gets all the waves and looks and is a fun driver, not a show car. The black interior is pretty okay but not perfect either.

It has been completely restored and is in excellent condition throughout. Powered by a 1,489cc inline 4-cylinder engine with twin su carburettors, that's backed by a proper 4-speed manual gearbox. Odometer shows 14,526 miles. Proper steel wheels with chrome wheel covers, radial tires. Chrome bumpers with over riders. Windscreen washers (manually activated pump). Fully carpeted interior and trunk. Correct banjo-style steering wheel. Full jaeger instrumentation. Vintage motorola 'volumatic' am radio. Updated with electric radiator cooling fan (supplements belt-driven fan). Carbs recently rebuilt, new washer pump. An older comprehensive restoration that shows very well (with restoration literature included, no records or further known history). Solid undercarriage, very nice bright red paint with basecoat clearcoat, excellent chrome, very tidy interior, excellent driver, and very difficult to find with just 6,272 mga 1500 coupes built. This fabulous mga mki coupe will be a great addition to any collection and is an excellent investment opportunity that can be shown and enjoyed for years to come. This car presents a unique opportunity to own a fully restored british classic. All paint, chrome, brightwork, upholstery and trim have been restored or replaced. Similarly, the original running gear was also rebuilt and this attractive example runs and drives better than new. The interior including seats, door panels, carpet and dash all show in outstanding condition. The mg division of the british motor corporation produced the mga from 1955 to 1962. It served as a replacement for the older 't-type' cars and was a complete styling departure from the older vehicles. The a was introduced at the frankfurt motor show in 1955. During its production lifespan, just 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, making the mga the highest export percentage of any british car. In may of 1962, the mga was replaced by the mgb. With 200+ always on site, nobody has what we have!

Gr auto gallery is pleased to offer this very early example of one britons finest, the mga. When introduced, the a a completely new design that changed the direction of the company. The cars were lower with sleek lines, for roomy interior, low seating position, and more powerful. Most importantly was the departure of their long standing “body on frame” design for a “unibody” construction. The improvements were immediately noticeable. The car was stiffer, much more ridged and demonstrated vastly improved handling capabilities. The a transcended mg to the sports car world and to this day, the mga is considered the best overall mg produced. The car was built between august 8 and september 8, 1955 making it just the 74th mga built according to bl heritage limited certificate. The car features an older restoration in its original orient red exterior paint over now black interior with black convertible top. Heritage limited also indicates that the car was an original wire wheel car. The car shows excellent in all areas still featuring excellent exterior paint, a wonderful interior with signature banjo style wheel, very tidy engine bay and stellar underside. Mechanically, the car is just of a fresh service from university motors in grand rapids, mi and drives out wonderful. The 1500 cc engine pulls strong in every gear, the suspension is tight and the handling is excellent. The exhaust puts off that distinct note of the early mg a sports cars. Mga’s remain highly sought after among sports car and british motoring enthusiasts. There reliability keep them easy to own, they remain at a price point for the common man, and they have consistently gained in value over the years making them a worthy investment. These cars are elegant and sporty and well received in all motoring circles.
