1955 Mercury Montclair 2dr HardtopThis is one of the most impressive 50s Mercury’s weve seen. These big cruisers arent seen very often anymore and when they are, they are far from their original condition. This car is in incredible & original condition sporting its original color, engine and new NOS interior. The photos cant show the true detail and appearance of this car. Immaculate in and out. The two-tone paint is gleaming Black and Tropic Blue. There is barely a mark on this car. The 292ci engine is highly detailed and original to the car. The interior is immaculate. Seating is new NOS and the untouched dash is original. All gauges work as they should and are as clear as they were when new. AM radio works great. Power steering and power brakes makes driving easy. The 292ci 198hp V8 engine provides plenty of power and sounds amazing with the help of the factory dual exhaust and exhaust tips. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly. A new Holley 4bbl carb has this car idling perfectly and adds a bit more power. No other modifications have been made added. She Starts, Runs & Drives Like New. Two inch White Wall Tires have full tread and brakes are new. Fender Skirts and Factory Wire Wheels were optional in ’55 and this car was ordered with both. Even the undercarriage is super clean and 100% rust free. From a time when cars were big, luxurious and were drenched in chrome, this Big Merc is an excellent example of top-of-the-line luxury from a decade of prosperity and simpler times. Heads will turn when this car goes by.

Seller's comments and description: offering my 1956 mercury montclair 2 dr. Ht mild custom finished in persimmon & arctic white acrylic urethane paint built to show or cruise ! Always stored on lift in climate controlled garage. Factory equipped w/ 312 v-8, t-85 hd overdrive transmission, power brakes & steering, dual exhaust all of which have been professionally rebuilt. Engine runs strong, no smoke, holds 60 psi oil pressure; transmission recently gone through, new clutch; overdrive works properly. Late ('57 up) jet hot-coated intake manifold w/ edelbrock 4v carburetor; late larger jet hot-coated dual exhaust manifolds & heat shields. Late ('57 up) distributor converted to electronic ignition; original "mercury" valve covers chrome plated. Gm chrome one-wire 100 amp alternator; '65 merc. All new original type wiring harnesses; dash, body, engine. Ez wiring panel w/atc fuses in glove compartment. Heavy duty recored radiator; new fuel tank; rear axle housing narrowed 4" by moser eng. To accommodate 15 x 7" american racing torq-thrust ii wheels. Custom wheel center caps featuring inset mercury emblems; michelin 215/70r radial tires; addco hd sway bar. Finished in akzo-nobel acrylic urethane persimmon & arctic white over straight body. Original finish was black & white; body required only minor front floor pan repair & outer rockers. Rear 1/4 panels professionally extended 14" to surround continental kit. All steel assemblies from parts car welded in & finished (no seams). Additional stainless side trim extended, cut, butted & polished."mercury" letters & bumper guards removed from front bumper, holes welded shut prior to plating; hood "rocket" shaved but "big m" replated & retained. Rear vertical bumper guards removed, bumper replated; deck shaved, custom license plate guard added. Exterior door handles removed & converted to remote solenoid operation. (2 remotes included). Stainless trim on door paint surround extended, cut, butted & polished. Nos full length stainless vent shades. Cast aluminum dual exhaust extensions. Accessory cast brass head light door trim, professionally chrome plated. Custom made flared fender skirts. New tinted windshield & side glass (rear window original), all new carpenter door & trunk seals, rebuilt roof rails, division bars, etc. All chrome & stainless replated, polished or replaced as required. Padded dash modified to accomodate a/c registers & controls & "multimedia navigation" unit (touch screen-am-fm-cd-gps-back-up camera); 4 speakers, two front & two rear. Original instrument cluster professionally rebuilt, painted, chrome replated. All accessories, lights, gauges in working order. 2005 expedition power bucket seats, center console w/ tach, cup holders, twin power outlets, covered center storage area hides switches for rear mounted power antenna, trunk release, etc. Classic air heating & air conditioning with r-134. Custom orange & white interior; deluxe full circle horn ring; fully upholstered trunk. Vintage 4-way flashers. High mount 3rd brake light. Set of vintage shop manuals included as well as all receipts for work done. New firewall insulator, lizard skin & hush mat installed to reduce heat & noise. Two speed electric wipers w/nos trico arms & blades. Known issues: speedo was rebuilt & works but odometer works inconsistently, typical oil drips due to inactivity, needs hd rear addco sway bar installed (included), 3. 15 rear differential installed to improve mileage; original 4. 09 rear is included.
