Last time I'll list this here! Auction is with no reserve and a super lowopening bid! Up for bids is my 1978 Mercury Cougar XR7. I am the third owner ofthis luxury sport coupe. The engine runs strong, the transmission shifts well andthe brakes work as they should. Newer tires on factory color-keyed turbinewheels with the correct center caps, factory spare is in the trunk. New vinyltop in the correct material. Zero rust ever, perfect chrome side moldings. Repainted 5 years ago in the factory colors, paint job is a solid ten footer. Working halogen headlights, sport mirrors and marker lights. Near perfectinterior has new carpet and headliner, unblemished dash pad, PW, PDL and 6 waypower drivers seat. Deluxe map light, power trunk release and AM/FM stereo withpower antenna (not functioning but new mast is included). Also included is apair of used but in great condition plastic arm rest bases in the correctcolor. A/C has been converted to R134 and will require charging. I bought it from the original owners son . They used it for family vacation , and the kids used as there first car . It's in great shape for being almost 40 and never been touched . It had been retired to the garage when i found out about it . Flushed the tank and cleaned the carb , put in a new fuelpump runs like new. I know that it's never going to be collectable like a mustang or camaro , but it is a conversation piece and will get plenty of attention (it brings me back to the 80s) the 351 windsor pulls great and the trans shifts smooth. I am the original owner this 1978 mercury cougar xr-7. Survivor less than 33,xxx original miles, 400 c. Everything is original including the paint, with the exception of battery, shocks, and tires. This car has never seen any snow or salt. I got caught in the rain with it a few times. When i bought the vehicle i sprayed the undercarriage with rust-oleum with less than 50 miles on the vehicle. I am the only one to have driven this vehicle. This car was never wrecked and been kept in a heated garage with no window so there is no fading due to uv rays. It has never gone thru a automatic car wash. Therefore there are no minute' scratches in the paint. Waxed only (hand rubbed) with simonize original. Even the rubber door seals are like new and still flexible. The oil has been changed every 2000 miles. The only fuel used in this vehicle has been amoco (now bp) ultimate 93 octane. It has never been smoked in. No leaks now or ever. I am convinced this is the best example of a 1978 cougar xr-7 in the country. The paint is dark brown metalic this is a solid car with no mechanical issues and guaranteed not to have a spec of rust anywhere. It does need tires and a muffler, the muffler is original and has a small hole in the rear where condensation lies, and the tires are about 26 years old. I am only sellng because i have to many vehicles and decided to sell a few. Yes, i am getting old! Everything has been documented. I have all documents and the shop manuals. Deal with the original owner not some classic auto dealer who marks it up by thousands. Imagine a all steel, full frame, virtually brand new car for $12,500. This car has zero issues other than the muffler and tires as specified. Ask for additional photos. If no answer leave message.
