1942 lincoln zephyr - new york, nyfor sale by ownernew york, ny 10002ph: 9044259541web: www. Georgesapproval. Netoptions:description:this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of american car history! Pre-wwii cars are often very difficult to find, but this one is especially so. The 1942 lincoln zephyr sedan was part of a very limited production right before the united states entered world war ii, causing all domestic car production to halt in support of the war effort. As such, this model year is nearly impossible to find. Unfortunately, after the passing of both of my grandparents, it is time for us to sell it. It was featured in the complete ford book, 4th edition (1976) - pages 104 - 106, and has also been in other magazines including "old cars illustrated" 1979 (page 19) and "motor klassik" ( a german car magazine) in 1999. It regularly won trophies at car shows and appeared in regional car club publications for quite some time. The odometer says 68,809, but it is unknown if it ever rolled over 100k.

Factory Five Racing Gen 2 GTM. Currently titled and registered in Maryland as a 2010 FFR GTM with emissions exemption. The car is a stunner. She drives well, accelerates like mad, and handles like she's on rails. Truly an exhilerating (if not downright scary) driving experience!

The first lincoln continental was developed as edsel ford's one-off personal vehicle, though it is believed he planned all along to put the model into production if successful. In 1938, he commissioned a custom design from the chief stylist, bob gregorie, ready for edsel's march 1939 vacation. The car could be considered a channeled and sectioned zephyr that did not even have the bulge that in the zephyr (and in some other cars) replaced the running-board at the bottom of the doors. This decrease in height meant that the height of the hood was much closer to that of the fenders. There was hardly any trim on it at all, making its lines superb. The custom car for the boss was duly produced on time, and edsel had it delivered to florida for his spring vacation. Interest from well-off friends was high, and edsel sent a telegram back that he could sell a thousand of them. Lincoln craftsmen immediately began production on the continental convertible, and even a rare few hardtop models. They were extensively hand-built; the two dozen 1939 models and 400 1940-built examples even had hand-hammered body panels, since dies for machine-pressing were not constructed until 1941. The 1939 continental is commonly called a '1940 continental.'the 1942 continental had new fenders, grill, and bumpers, but was otherwise unchanged. After the attack on pearl harbor, continental production was suspended, to be re-started in 1946 to 1948 with new grill work. Like the other post war lincolns, however, the continental had similar bits of trim added to make it look improved. The 1939–1948 continental is recognized as a "full classic" by the classic car club of america, one of the last-built cars to be so recognized. '42 continentals with their one year only grill are extremely rarethis very nice example was the subject of a professional restoration and was once part of the dominos pizza collection. The car still presents well and runs and drives perfectly. Finished in a desirable color combination, this car is perfect for caravans and long ditance drives, while still being quite show worthy.

1942 lincoln continental - vista, carrpm exotics, inc. Vista, ca 92081ph: 6198889997web: www. Cooptions:description:the 1942 continentals were unique in several aspects. Civilian automobile production was shortened after the pearl harbor attack resulting in only 200 of the freshly restyled continentals being produced in the model year and no more were made until the 1946 model year. This car was originally owned by the opera star grace moore. Following her death in an airplane crash in 1947 it was purchased by john d. Macadams who would later found the lincoln-zephyr owners club. Macadams undertook a three year comprehensive restoration of the car in the mid ‘60s to the highest standards. He subsequently sold it to a fellow enthusiast in 1968. The car was intermittently shown but rarely driven, and in 1984 terry johnson sold the car to john bradley. Bradley consigned the car as an exemplary example of the continental to the famed petersen automotive museum in los angeles for an extended display lasting almost ten years until february 2006. The virtually perfect continental was then sold into its current owner’s collection. Other than regular maintenance, it is in the same amazing condition as when it was restored almost fifty years ago. It represents a high water mark in pre-war american automobiles and is recognized as a “full classic” by the classic car club of america. It comes with significant records, tools, and books.

The lincoln zephyr for 1942 was longer, wider and lower. A two part grille with horizontal bars accentuated the lincolns more massive form. Keeping with the horizontal styling were the headlight trim plates containing the parking and directional lights. The new lincoln-zephyrs had front fender-mounted parking lamps, molding surrounding the front grille, reshaped taillights and a combination trunk lid and rear deck light.
