1934 pierce arrow 1240 a - volo, ilvolo auto museumvolo, il 60073ph: 8153853644web: n/aoptions:description:pierce arrow is among the three grand luxury car brands of pre-war america. Pierce arrow's demise in 1938 did little to diminish the timelessness of the automobiles themselves. Finding a good 8-cylinder model is an uncommon occurrence, and rarer still are the lavish 12-cylinder models, of which less than 300 were known to be built. 1934 was one of the last years the struggling automaker would produce these marvelous multi-cylinder cars. It was also a year in which the design of the pierce arrow body changed most significantly. The iconic archer ornament was now fixed in place to emphasize the car's contemporary and streamlined design. The 1934 pierce arrow limousine showcased here makes a strong impression with it's extensive 144 wheelbase. This model 1240a is correctly numbered at 3530015 which is consistent according to the pierce arrow society's documentation for an enclosed drive limousine. The car's cosmetic condition is best described as an older restoration with fair paint with a well maintained patina that's quite presentable. Chrome shows good to very good with sharp luster on the grille and bumpers. The interior upholstery and trim are good to very good, dash is well preserved and upholstery is free from rips and tears, further wear along the floor mats notwithstanding. An inspection from beneath reveals a respectable regimen of indoor storage with no visible rust through floor panels or frame members. The mammoth 462 cubic inch twelve cylinder engine runs good and exhibits little effort pulling away from a dead stop in second gear. The pierce v12's were incredibly durable engines for high cruising speeds and this example performs as it should. Dual sidemounts fog lamps leather chauffeur's seating clock trunk rack divider glass fold-away seating.
Air Conditioning Pierce arrow 1998, 105' ladder in great condition. Recently we put 2,000 miles on this truck without any issues. Motor has good power. Transmission shifts the way it should. Ladder and outriggers are in great condition and work the way they should. Emergency lights and siren work. Truck has some new whelen led lights. A few bulbs might need to be replaced. Tires are decent to very good condition. There's rust on the compartments. Cab shows very little corrosion. This truck is road ready. It shows 75,165 miles, but it wasnt counting up the when we drove it to el paso texas. We fully extended the ladder and did various tests on it, and everything looks fine on it. A good truck for a low budget department. Would also be a good truck for a large tanker body. Length 40' 2" height 11' 3" call me anytime at 915-234-7262 el paso texas international airport is about 20 minutes from the trucks location. I will also include temporary tag and insurance for the truck.
Rising to the challenge, the owner elected to rebuild it from the ground up in the best Restomod tradition, maintaining the streamlined Pierce's stately looks and totally updating its suspension, drivetrain, and interior. An added bonus is the nos 1925 pierce arrow winterfront radiator core mechanism which operates perfectly; automatically opening the louvers as the radiator tank heats up. This car runs smooth and strong and has never over-heated in the two years i've owned it. There is a 6 volt electric fuel pump hidden and mounted on the rear chassis rail. The starter motor was rebuilt 3 months ago. The original mint condition owner's manual is also included and the cars factory carburetor and air cleaner which are both in excellent condition. Also note that this car does not have standard rubber running boards but the original pierce arrow factory pyramid aluminum running boards[new]. I also replaced the original linoleum floors with new throughout. The rumble seat area has the factory polished nickeled foot rest bar, brand new carpeting and new upholstered side panels. The rumble seat nickel hinge arms were re-plated as well. There is a battery cutoff switch installed for storage purposes. This car is driven regularly because it is so dependable. The radiator core was replaced with the original style fins and the shroud re-nickel plated [flawless]. Every piece of this car has been restored to show quality, except the archer hood ornament which i left with it's original patina. It is in perfect condition. The paint has a mirror finish and is as nice as it gets. The single stage urethane matches exactly to the original venezia blue.
