Served by 3 major airport (dca, bwi, iad) powerplant = caterpillar turbo diesel 3126 transmission = allison at545 (automatic) extremely low mileage 51,xxx miles two 50 gallon diesel fuel tanks 25 gallon water tank gvwr 23,100 lbs i bought this in van in 2011 when my horse was competing in eventing shows every weekend. Now that he's 22, his show days are behind him. And we want to buy a cabin. The horse box was made in the 1970 by frank imperator vans. It has been refurbed twice. The last refurb i moved the horse box to this chevy chassis and also had the exterior of the box repainted. There are really endless possibilities to this van. We've used it as a toy hauler for the bikes, we've used it to camp out of, we've used it as box truck to move stuff. And did i mention that it's got enough clearance for a standing horse. Also, it takes away the hassle of needing a lot of space to park. Msrp on the chassis was $85k. Horses haul well in the van and ventilation is good. Configure as single box stall, 2 standing stall, or 3 horse. I don't have a draft horse, but suspect this would be roomy enough for one. The good: true to it's name, the caterpillar power plant has been super reliable. The rig was a california truck before i bought it, so it's in much better condition than other trucks of the same vintage overall, in very good condition. (usually by the time a medium duty truck is in this price range, it has 1/2 million miles. ) plenty of head room/ceiling height this van is easy to drive. Turns tighter than my dodge ram 2500 the tires plenty of tread on them (.
