The triumph tr6 was the motorbike that made steve mcqueen famous! It was great leap forward for the triumph motorcycle company and proved itself in baja racing and in hollywood movies. 1956 was the first year for the tr6 model, was first called the trophy, and sometimes referred to as the trophy-bird. From a purely engineering standpoint, the tr6 was the first year triumph introduced an aluminum delta head for their 650 cc engines. The new aluminum delta head design allowed the triumph engineers to increase compression and to eliminate the external oil-line drains from their engines. The tr6 models were built between 1956 and 1972. This 1956 triumph tr6 was the first real sporty motorcycle manufactured by triumph and it paved the way for the very popular triumph bonneville. This motorbike has under 200 miles on the engine (and odometer) after a complete 20 month frame up restoration by noted english bike builder, wes scott.

Engine & transmission have been rebuilt and the magneto has been recently rebuilt also. The bike was repainted factory color in 1982, it still looks great and runs very strong. First year of the new aluminum delta head and first year for the 650 cc engine which makes this a very collectable motorcycle

For sale is my ex-military triumph trw 500cc side valve twin. If i did not have a second trw here, with significantly more sentimental value attached to it, i would not be selling this out of my collection. this bike has great patina, and looks to be mostly original.   the paint seems to be an early repaint, or paint that was restored back in that time period.   this is a genuine numbers-matching trw. My hope is that it will go to another owner who will be able to appreciate it as much as i have.

It was very successful in the dirt tracks around the country with the highest rated hp in 1956 and it's lightweight nimble handling it took no less than the top 12 places in the prestigious 1957 Big Bear run Enduro. This was a true dual purpose bike that was street legal with knobby tires and high pipes that could be raced on the weekends and driven to work on Monday. First was the new alloy "delta"cylinder head, it eliminated the overheating and cracking that was common on the cast iron heads, also eliminated was the external oil drain pipes

The engine is locked up from sitting for so many years, so I am listing it as a non running project. Click on the view all tab at the bottom of the slideshow to see all the pictures. There is a Florida title for the bike that matches the bikes frame in my name

For sale is my ex-military triumph trw 500cc side valve twin. I became fascinated with these motorcycles the first time i had laid eyes on one for the first time nearly 3 years ago. I it was one that belong to my dear friend, and after much begging him pleading, i was able to convince him to sell it to me. With that bike, my antique military motorcycle collection began... And so did my love for the trw. I began extensive research on the trw's, and have always had a special place in my heart for them. I was able to compare mine against example in the barber motorsports museum, and promised myself that if i ever found another one to add to that my collection, i would. Other trw collectors and i began to network, which is when i bought this wonderful example from a canadian gentleman who had made his way down from canada with his trw. He and i were able to build a wonderful relationship off of that sale, and actually led me to meet other military motorcycle collectors, whom of which i later purchased more ww2 military bikes from. We’ve no idea, but we reckon that there are hundreds rather than thousands, and certainly the trw register created by burton bike bits is, at the time of writing, boasting around fifty machines. The trw was never sold new to the public. It was for forces and other governmental use only. But machines were later sold off secondhand—and were all but given away in the early days. If i did not have a second trw here, with significantly more sentimental value attached to it, i would not be selling this out of my collection. This bike has great patina, and looks to be mostly original. The paint seems to be an early repaint, or paint that was restored back in that time period. This is a genuine numbers-matching trw. All gears interchange smoothly and the brakes work extremely well (these were far more than adequate in the day) everything feels nice and tight mechanically, and completely electrically sound. There is a slow weep of oil from the oil tank, what appears to be along the seam. My hope is that it will go to another owner who will be able to appreciate it as much as i have. -see the video for this bike in action!
