I built this bike to push my design capabilities and to create a totally unique (one of) motorcycle, blending modern technology with 70's retro styling reminiscent of california life, early teen boardtrackers and an 80's bmx bike named skyway. The build took me 2 years to complete. I payed meticulous attention to detail and quality, only using the best parts and products available. Most everything was remade and reinvented to achieve a unique, street legal, ride-able custom which won best custom motorcycle at the venice vintage motorcycle show 2017. This is a great bike! I have owned it since 1985; i knew both other owners personally (rip). She's just coming out of some rework, she's running fabulously, and it's killing me to sell her. But i live in another state now. She is currently registered through april of 2018. Good stuff first: she has brand new (and i mean brand new) front and rear brakes (and fluid), battery and plugs. The tires have a few years on them, but less than 1,000 miles and almost new rubber. She has a higher, more aerodynamic windscreen, which works wonderfully, and new, larger rear mirrors. The front fork springs are upgraded and the oil is fresh. The points, voltage regulator and generator brushes are also less than 1,000 miles old. The carburetors were "just" tuned and synched. I have confirmed that the unique "snowflake" wheels are the later, strengthened version. Brembo rear disc brake; front brakes are ate. Although a drop of "something" will appear once in a while under the bike, there really aren't any leaks. The rear end is tight and dry. Other than good stuff: i dropped the bike one friggin' time! (. This was the cause of the most recent rework. So the fairings have been replaced, repainted and solid (there are no "repaired" cracks), the right valve cover is scuffed underneath, and one of the battery covers has a crack (sorry - i just ran out of time to replace it/them). The fuel tank has one gentle dent (not related to the drop) that's barely visible in the left side photo. I was afraid to try and pop it out for fear of making it worse, but i guess a pro could do it in 10 minutes. The rear brake could use another bleeding, but to honest, if i could keep her longer, i'd install a new master cylinder. The mufflers are in fine shape, but the right one has some pitting. That said, kbb says the bike should go for around $5k. This bike is definitely in the "good condition" zone (and there may be some wiggle room for negotiation. It's only a few hundred dollars away from being one of those $10k bikes. I've been brutally honest here, and the price i'm listing it at should be reasonably in the "sane" ballpark. The bike will be advertised in other venues as well. First fish on the hook, gets to keep the bait.

Fresh 10K Service Krauser 1979 BMW R100RT Red Smoke. We found another R100RT upper fairing of the same color and installed it. the fairing upper had several vibration cracks which developed because of a stripped mounting bolt. There is a set of 4 different keys as locks have been changed over the years. With a weight of only 525 pounds with a full fuel tank the bike is as light and nimble as most smaller bikes. It is easy to wind through traffic or a parking lot and easy to park for an average size person. Then click on the larger photo on the right to see it in a full screen pop-up window. This BMW R100RT is fully serviced and ready to ride for the season and on. There is a key for each of the fairing glove box covers another for the ignition and another for the seat. the Krauser saddlebags are in good condition and have no cracks. We found the rear brake to geel â mushyâ even after flushing the brake fluid so we installed a new Spiegler rear stainless brake line. We also installed new rubber fairing boots around the fork tubes. Fresh 10K Service New Battery. 1979 BMW R100RT SOLD.... There is a tool tray but no tool kit. With the lockable storage available the superb weather protection and the fuel mileage it would also work well as a distance daily commuting bike. We cleaned the carburetors cleaned the inside of the fuel tank and installed original Continental braided cloth covered fuel lines. We tore done and inspected the engine top end inspected everything (everything was good) and resealed the engine top end. Both the front and rear brakes are in very good condition. the pedal is nice and firm now. Braided stainless rear brake line. 56 890 Miles. 1979 BMW R100RT Red Smoke. We found the final drive splines to be noticeably worn so we changed out the final drive for another one of the same ratio with much fewer miles. While we were doing that we also upgraded the original 1979-80 style mirrors mirror mounts and windshield adjusters to the newer improved 1981 on style that work easier. Clock & Volt meters improved 1981-on mirrors and windshield adjusters. the Dunlop tires are in good condition. the instruments and gauges all work properly.
