Called the TR7 Spider, it was available only in Maraschino Black, with reflective red striping and badging plus black interior trim. Based on an exhaustive inventory of the factory build cards at the British Heritage Motor Centre archives, it has been confirmed that 1,070 carbureted Spiders were built at the Solihull factory with an additional 548 fuel-injected (Bosch L-jetronic) Spiders built. The history books have yet to be written on the triumph tr7, but if this fantastic 1980 example is any indicator, perhaps they'll have their day in the sun yet. For those of us who grew up with these cars running around, it's a familiar face whose star wars looks have aged gracefully. Finish quality is extremely good, and not just for a tr7. Someone spent a big pile of money on the paint and bodywork and it shows. Gaps are probably better than new and they certainly weren't spraying paint this deep and shiny back in the '80s. It does not appear to have ever been a rusty car, which is a rare find all by itself, and even the big rubber bumpers show minimal signs of age with no cracking or chalky look from uv damage. A big gold triumph decal on the nose is a reminder of who built it, while another set out back on the trunk lid point it out even more clearly. The handsome tan interior is like new, showing amazing preservation and careful restoration where needed. The squared-off dashboard is typical '80s but it works well in the angular tr7 and we actually really like the interesting shapes on top. An am/fm radio still lives in the dash and sounds decent and yes, that's working factory a/c! Overhead, there's a snug-fitting tan convertible top that folds with ease and disappears under a matching tan boot to give the tr7 a very sleek profile. Another benefit to the tr7's wedge shape is a fairly spacious trunk that hides the spare tire underneath so it doesn't get in the way. The 2. 0 liter inline-4 delivers a reasonable 92 horsepower thanks to a pair of side-draft carburetors that should be familiar to british sports car enthusiasts. Sturdy and reliable, the engine has an enthusiastic demeanor that suits the sporty look of the car, and in the years since it was built, it has obviously been well maintained. It starts easily, idles well, and pulls the 2-seater around with gusto, letting loose with great 4-cylinder sounds from the oversized stainless exhaust pipe out back. There's still a live axle out back, but thanks to a set of trailing arms and a rather large sway bar, it remains planted and faithfully follows the front end. A clean undercarriage, solid structural members, and no signs of trouble all make this tr7 a great find. Handsome factory alloys are fitted and carry 185/70/13 radials that look right. This car is completely original and everything works. Manufactured by bl cars ltd, london england april 1980. 1493cc (91 cu in) 4 cylinder in line ohv engine, which runs. Manual 4 speed with reverse. 48,225 miles. Interior good other than cracks in the dashboard from sun damage, seats are in good condition, carpet in good condition, am/fm cassette player, 12v cigarette liter, heater, reading light. All signals and lights work. Soft top has one tear on seam which could easily be fixed. Hard top has intact glass windows but does have scrapes and scuffs on outside with one tear in headliner. Battery is good. 1 new tire the others are in good condition. Interior cover, spare tire and equipment, owners workshop manual and 6 parts magazines all included. This car runs great and is fun to drive! Located in killdeer, north dakota. AM/FM

1980 triumph spitfire 1500 coupe convertible i'm listing my 1980 triumph spitfire 1500 coupe convertible. Fun lil tootle around car in the summer and quit a head turner. This car is original, rare and hard to find in north dakota in the condition in which it sits. Needs tlc as it was purchased as a resto. I am the third owner of this car, but i know the previous 2 owners. I bought the car in 2015, drove it around then parked it with expectations of resto, but the car has ended up sitting in the machine shop and now taking up space in garage. I live on a farm and dont like driving the car to blacktop as the car is very low profile and don't handle dirt roads well. This car is not in perfect condition and did run when parked but needs tlc for a car of 37 years old. I looked over the car carefully and pictures descript the way in which this car sits now. I’ve owned this car since 12/14/1993 and have driven it very little. In fall of 2009 i began a frame-off restoration for reasons unknown. Frame, tub and misc parts was bead‐blasted to bare surface. No rust was found and no rust exist now. Garage kept and covered most of the time. The frame was powder coated as well as tub most suspension parts. Due to a surprise divorce not very long after restoration was started and the cost of divorce attorneys, i was forced to do a speedy reassembly. I was also forced to do it on a much tighter budget. It still needs tweaking in areas but nothing i consider major. Seats i recovered myself… poorly i may add as well as the paint. It is apparent that i don’t know how to paint. Still not bad to look at from 20 feet. It is the original color. The wood on the dash was custom made and has bubbled in some areas. The engine has not been opened and/or inspected as it was running strong before and after reinstallation, same for transmission and differential. Bearings, u‐joints and the like was however replaced or repacked. From my recollection (and receipts somewhere), the following was replaced during the process1) starter2) water pump3) gas tank4) muffler (and a new spare muffler) tail pipe up to header needs to be fitted professionally5) chrome windshield header (and a new spare)6) upgraded cloth convertible top that cost a small fortunate (w/ zippered window)7) clutch, pp & to bearing8) all brake & clutch hydraulic system components including shoes/pads9) all body rubber mounts are polypropylene10) all front & rear suspension bushings, tie‐rod ends, shocks and related11) a wallet load of accessories, trim pieces, mounding’s, weather‐stripping, ect... 12) everything else was reworked, cleaned and/or paintedfrom my recollection of needed workbetter paint job, real seat covers and i would recommend the foam as well. Complete the exhaustsystem that was just slipped together temporarily. Tires have less than 500 miles but over 10 years old. Comes with after‐market hard top and variety of new/used parts. More pics available and all questionswill be answered to the best of my ability. Car has been sitting again for the past 6 years. Addition photos are available and questions are welcome.
