It’s torque-laden grunt, wonderful lines, and reliability, made it an icon of itstime. The car being offered for sale is a prime and well cared for example that is guaranteed to bring smiles to the faceof any new owner, and constant admiration from those who see it. Over the years this car has received both cosmetic (older) and on-going mechanical attention to maintain aprize-winning appearance while providing very pleasurable, and reliable performance. Owning one of these appreciating cars is an ultimate joy, and the maintenance of them is surprisingly simple andeasy. And, virtually any part is available from a number of reputable companies in the usa. There are routine service and mechanical repair records available, along with a service manual, and a nice stash ofthe usual spares. The motor is strong, and the transmission shifts smoothly. All exterior lights and latches,interior gauges, switches, and wiring work as intended. All panel lights work, the trip meter works, as well asthe heater, and electric windshield washer. This car comes equipped with an overdrive transmission, nos lucas ranger driving lights, functional car jack andtools, a high quality car cover, a brand new but never installed luggage rack, and weather gear that is inexcellent condition save the never used side curtains which are in useable but average condition. The engine bay looks well maintained, and those twin su carbs are something we all look for at the car shows. British sports cars were the backbone of early scca competition and cars like this 1959 triumph tr3 were the ideal combination of practical fun. With a nice restoration, great colors, and a classic roadster look, this triumph gets everything right. Actually, tr3s are rather rare and have seen substantial gains in value over the past few years as people discover the fun of the low-slung two-seaters. It's unlikely that any triumph coming out of england in the 1950s was this nice, suggesting that there's a great deal of time and money invested in the final result. The handsomely appointed black leather interior is stylish while maintaining its sense of minimalism. The banjo-style steering wheel is big enough to really lever the steering around sweeping corners and the steering position is actually quite good. Big, round smiths gauges are distinctly british and eminently functional and it looks as though there's nothing in this car that doesn't help it work better. Given the car's featherweight bodywork, the 2331 cc inline-4 is plenty gutsy to make an entertaining drive. No, it's not terrifyingly fast, but the old adage of "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" certainly applies here. It never puts a tire wrong and the front disc brakes are reassuringly powerful. Hoses, clamps, and other little bits are quite correct, so it looks right from any angle. The aforementioned 4-speed has great ratios for spirited driving and the exhaust system has the right baritone bellow that signifies british performance.

We purchased this car from someone who had been performing a multi-year restoration. For a number of reasons, he was not able to complete the car and we took off where he had stopped. All electrical is functioning properly. Wide white walls on steel wheels with correct hub caps make this car quite stunning. We just completed a steering box rebuild, as well as a full service and are very impressed with how nicely this car looks, sounds, and drives. I have owned many tr3’s, and they represent a different type of sports car experience, that truly helped to define the phrase ‘sports car’. Tr3’s were one of the first cars to be produced with standard disc brakes. Unlike many other sports cars, this car had a heavy duty frame, and an extremely stout engine that was derived from tractors and made to last forever. It comes with a good convertible top in white that will need a good cleaning but is in very good condition as well as the bows that are complete and in great shape. This TR3 is a solid car with rust only on the outer rockers and by the bumper bracket holes in the rear of the car.
