1965 sunbeam tiger mk 1 sports car. This is the true classic motorsport enthusiast’s car, combining the nimbleness of a british roadster, with the primal grunt of american muscle. Made even more desirable with its own certificate of authenticity from the sunbeam tigers owners association. Included with this car is a list of recent repairs totaling over $4200. This sunbeam tiger features a 260cid v8 engine with a ford twin-choke 2 barrel carburetor, 4-speed manual transmission, polished aluminum valve covers, ac breather and air cleaner, dual exhaust, rack and pinion steering, girling front disc brakes and rear drums. The 15 inch vto alloy wheels wrapped in 205/50-r15 yokohamas tires create a very serious track look and offer even more road grip. Finished in “signal red”, this roadster shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. All the trim is present and is brilliant and displays normal wear. The jal tag is fixed to the cowling with the original rivets. The optional front and rear bumpers (equipped with over-riders) fit is extremely tight and finish is exquisite. The weather-stripping is pliable, with little or no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage. The “minilite” style wheels represent well with no major signs of marring or curb rash. The black canvass convertible top fits very well with no visible tearing, and the rear window are extremely clear. The car has a black boot that functions as designed and is in great condition. Inside, the rich black vinyl front bucket seats highlighted with red piping look fantastic. The rear cargo compartment looks great with no major signs of wear visible. The matching black door panels, carpet and dashboard are a striking contrast to the red exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are ergonomically placed and have correct appearance and function as originally designed. The grant wooden steering wheel and black padded dashboard adds to the period feel. Seller's comments and description: the car runs, drives and stops. It is a 2 top car ( hard and soft top). I am not sure if the motor is a 260 or a 289. From what i see i believe it to be a 289 with an aluminum intake, holley carb, ford daul point distributor, and long tube headers. The original 4 speed and rearend are in the car and work fine. It has an alternator now but comes with the orignal generator and bracket. It has koni shocks and lat traction bars. It has the original jack and handle. It comes with a new front window seal. The body appears to be in great shape.

There’s always something special about brute american horsepower in a finely tuned european sports car and no one explored this concept more than carroll shelby. As a former racecar driver and premier builder, shelby oversaw some of the largest horsepower engines placed into the smallest cars ever known. Carroll shelby thought an improvement was in order and he proceeded to retrofit an alpine with a 260 cubic-inch ford v-8. The plan was for shelby to contract with sunbeam and build the car at his american facility, but it was decided that it would be produced in england with shelby receiving a royalty for each one built. In the end, it was called the tiger and, with its ford v-8, it turned out to be a stellar performing car.  offered here is a 1965 sunbeam tiger that has recently undergone a cosmetic and mechanical refresh. It remains largely in original condition with all of its components and mechanicals. This tiger was delivered new to hawaii and spent many years in the aloha state before turning up on the mainland. The dashboard and all gauges have been refurbished and the carpets are new. This tiger retains all of its factory identification plates that attest to its originality. Its preservation can be attributed to it being in dry storage for several decades. All systems have since been refitted and it’s now ready once again for the open road. The nimble handling and v-8 power of this fine british roadster makes it the perfect car for a summer day.  the sunbeam tiger is a car that combines the elements of a european sports car with the refined power of an american v-8. Nicely preserved sunbeam tigers are a rarity in the collector car world and many have been altered with modifications that render them unlike an original. This example has a dedication to originality that is rare in the tiger market and it certainly deserves to be maintained in its factory condition. This tiger is more than ready for spirited performance on the open road.   .

1965 sunbeam tiger - grand rapids, migr auto gallerygrand rapids, mi 49512ph: 8554636584web: n/aoptions:description:the sunbeam tiger was the brainchild of ian garrad. Shelby achieved this by removing the alpines 1. 7 liter 4 cylinder motor and replacing it with a small block 4. 2 liter (260 cid) v8. Production of this low-budget, high-performance sports car began in england in 1964. The 1965 sunbeam tiger offered here, b9470634lrxfe - jal 560120, is a three owner car that spent the majority of its life in california owned by its second owner since 1972 until being purchased by an enthusiast in michigan approximately in 2005. The car was acquired as a running and driving example that possessed a rock solid body, frame and core structure. It was driven and enjoyed until being treated to a complete exterior and mechanical restoration completed in 2015 and highly finished in signal orange over black interior. At that time the engine was professionally rebuilt using its correct 260 v8 block fortified with 289 heads, roller rockers, performance cam, electronic ignition, offenhauser intake, correct carb, correct air cleaner, tiger power aluminum valve covers, etc. Other highlights include: 4 speed manual transmission, authentic lat 13 inch aluminum wheels, good year eagle gt billboard tires, wood steering wheel, tires, complete original convertible top frame, complete original convertible hard storage boot, roll bar, new seat upholstery, new interior door panels, new carpet, original dash wood, complete and original trim and bumpers, talbot style mirrors, dual exhaust etc. The performance of this tiger is amazing as it instantly roars to life, pulls strong in every gear, the refurbished steering and suspension ensures sure footedness over bumps and in turns and the car is just plain fast. Sunbeam tigers are very unique cars and good ones are very hard to find, a car of this condition is worthy of serious consideration. Hard top included with the sale. Aluminum Wheels
