This is solid car with some upgrades that could make a good daily driver or a possible track car. The floor is solid, the hell hole is solid and the battery box has been moved to the trunk. The prior owner tried making this a "street racer" by removing as much weight as possible like the door panels, vent hoses, drivers seat etc. The prior owner said that the engine is a 2. 0 litre that has had work done to it but he did not have any specific receipts. The tires were new and he was fabricating the underdash to make it more appealing for an everyday driver. The tires are relatively new and the exhaust has been upgraded as well. This is a good car with good bones and will not need alot to get it running down the the road. This 1971, signal orange, porsche 914 has been stored inside, in my extremely dusty, but dry, garage, for the last 9 years. The car body has rust at the drivers side jackpoint and in a few other very small areas that i can locate. The battery tray has been modified but looks to be mostly rust free in the area underneath it. The floorboards and trunks, front and rear, appear to have only minor rust. Overall the body is in good condition for a vehicle of this year. The prior owner modified the front panel and the hood for an oil cooler, the hood will need replacement or repair to return to stock. There is a small dent in the drivers door, bigger than a door ding, but difficult to see in the pictures. I would consider this a low rust 914, and i have owned 4. The interior of the car has the original seats, including the fixed passenger seat, the dashboard has had an oil temp and head temp guages added and is missing the tachometer. There is no floor carpeting, but there are floor mats, door panels have been removed but are included with the car. Drivers side window was missing when i got the car but a replacement, not installed, is included. Windshield is cracked, but other glass is good. Odometer reads 1522the engine and transmission were removed by the prior owner. The engine is not original to the car and is a 2. 0 liter, ga stamped, block. 3 sets of piston and cylinders, two still in boxes, are included in auction. The prior owner partially disassembled the motor and rebuilt the heads. Numerous seals and bearings for the motor are included. I do not have an intake or exhaust for the motor. The transmission is a tailshift unit and appears to be in working condition. The car is located 100 miles northwest of albuquerque, nm. Please call michael at 505 400 5527 to view. Wheels are in great shape, with nothing more than very minor surface rust patches on the inner side of the spokes. Paint shines brilliantly, though there is some bubbling in various locations on the passenger side of the car. The most significant bubbling can be found just above the passenger tail light, as documented in the photos

This 914 was purchased in sacramento ca. In 1972 by the original owner who i acquired it from a couple years ago. Owner was in his 70's and only drove this car less than 500 miles a year in the last 10-15 years he owned it due to a back surgery which made it difficult for him to get in and out, according to him, the engine is original 70k mileage is accurate and the the only upgrade that was done was a lightened flywheel along with a new clutch that was done 10 years ago. The engine runs strong with the compression between 132 - 138 on all 4 cylinders on a ppi which was provided dated 6/15/2014. It has the original fuel injection and starts right up and idles great with no fuel smell nor smoke. The motor and transmission are both completely dry... Absolutely no oil leaks at this time. It has a new optima battery. I have provided 160+ pictures to show the condition of the body, frame, interior and drivetrain. It had the original paint job with nice patina when i took delivery.. I did decide to strip the 914 to the bare metal before a repaint (1 year ago)... I also upgraded to authentic original 914 2. 0 fuchs wheels (the original steel wheels will be included). The shifter bushings have been gone through and shifts nice. The bumpers and bumper tops are original to the car and both front and rear are in decent shape. Interior has new carpet, lloyd mats, and a racemark steering wheel which is sherwood engraved (original steering wheel included). 914 currently does not have a radio but original speakers are still present, the dash is original and has 1 crack as pictured, seats are original and passenger side is excellent condition and the driver side is great with the exception of a separation on the stitching in the bottom bolster as pictured (i have a pair of brand new seats as an option) door panels are in great condition, and all windows are original except the windshield which was replaced after the repaint due to a couple cracks. One thing that it should get replaced is the e-brake handle assembly, it does not stay up sometimes when engaged, i never worked on it because its parked in a garage and i never engage the e-brake. It truly is fun to drive and i receive thumps up everywhere i go. I intended to keep this vehicle, however, baby will be on the way and having 4 toys (3 old porsches) is not practical. Bumpers clean with no damage but do show signs of age but again, hard to tell especially from a few feet away. Wheels are original 914 fuchs, clean with shine, not perfect but look very nice and no major (hardly even minor) scratches or curb rashes. Engine: the most desirable 2. 0 liter of the 4 cylinder 914's. Starts right up and idles smooth with original fuel injection. Clutch depresses smooth and also with no noise or slipping. New valve adjustment, new pushrod tube seals, new valve cover gaskets, new vacuum lines, new fuel injector seals, new points, new ignition wires, new spark plugs, new intake boots, new intake manifold gaskets, new head temperature sensor, new air filter. Mechanical: all mechanical aspects of this car are very good for a 41 year old auto. Shifts smooth with new shift bushings on the 5 speed, side shifter gearbox. New front brakes that stop smooth, in a straight line. New battery in the more practical trunk mount position. Had some rust but all has been repaired/treated and now is a solid car. Overview: i tried my best to show all aspects of this car to help anyone interested in making a decision. Different people have differing opinions. Please inspect photos carefully as they are part of the description. It “is” a very nice car that looks extremely nice. Title in hand and smog exempt (at least in ca.). 2017 tags just arrived. The car is a blast to drive down a country road and has no overheating or running problems. It looks and feels, almost like a brand new car. Brand new tires also. Odometer shows 18930 but actual mileage is unknown.

History over the seven model years, porsche made a number of changes to the 914. Some of these changes were cosmetic and others were in response to changing crash protection standards. From 1970 to 1974, the 914 was offered with chrome or painted bumpers. In early 1970, rear bumpers were produced with a straight crease on either side of the license plate indent. Between 1970 and 1972, both front and rear bumpers were smooth without bumper guards. In 1973, bumper guards were added to the front of the car. In 1974, guards were also added to the rear bumper. In 1975 and 1976, the chrome or painted bumpers were replaced with heavy, rubber-covered units which actually made the cars more stable at high speeds. 1970 porsche 914-6 conversionthe conversion was done using a 1970 2. 0 911 engine with mfi. Don’t have much info on what else was done to the engine but it is definitely more fun and more powerful than the stock 2 liter 914 engine . This car runs, drives and shifts great but the body and interior are a little rough. It had a decent respray but the body work could have and should have been done better. This car would be great as daily driver and would need only minimal work or would be great to find a nice chassis and use this car as a donor for a 914-6 conversion. The 2. 0 liter 911 engine with a mfi would be very cool in either a 911/912 or a nicer 914.
