Instead, the sculpture bodywork is framed by the wide chrome rocker panel and wheel well trim that stretched the entire length of the car. Rear fender chrome adds an exclamation point to the period styling. In 1953, a continental kit rear mounted spare was also standard issue, and a faux hood scoop gives the convertible an early muscle car vibe. In- line 8 cylinder engine delivers a smooth and reliable 180 horsepower to give the car a responsive feel. Bodies for the limited production caribbean were handcrafted by the ionia, michigan based mitchell-bentley corporation. However, a few special order cars were released in ivory or black. This vehicle was one of the special order cars that left the detroit assembly line with an ivory finish, and was shipped to the proud new owner in california. This vehicle was restored by custom restoration in santa ana, california in approximately 1990 and was repainted in the original ivory hue at that time. The convertible is upholstered in a two tone black and white combination, still soft and pliable and free of any rips, tears, or stains. Similarly, the carpets, convertible top, and all the interior trim is in top condition. Power assisted accessory features were optional cost items on this first year model and are hydraulically actuated. The carpets, glass, chrome, rubber, and convertible top remain in outstanding condition, 65 years after its debut, and the original issue kelsey-hayes chrome wire wheels are flawless. This car is highly sought after as a rare collectible vehicle in the current collectible automobile market. This is a blue chip investment automobile, in the same class as the 1953 cadillac eldorado (532 produced), the buick skylark (1690 produced), and the 1953 oldsmobile fiesta (458 produced). These gm cars, in comparable condition, often sell at auction at prices approaching the $200,000 mark. This packard, offered at a fraction of the price, stands tall against these competitors, and it will increase in value for years to come. For the sheer enjoyment of driving an open air car, few experiences can compare. A packard advertising slogan describes it best: "pride of possession is standard equipment.". Power Windows

The last "53 caribbean to be built was custom painted in the ivory color. Only a hand full were painted this color. It is equipped with every available option, including ultramatic transmission, hydraulic windows, seat, and top. Power steering, and power brakes are also included. New chrome, and new true spoke wire wheels are utilized, with coker american classic, wide whitewall tires, that look like bias ply but drive like radials. Also included is the original owners service manual, and many spare parts.
