The original mini cooper was made by the british motor corporation (bmc) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. This highly prepared mini is a high performance pocket rocket, presently configured for track use and could easily be reconfigured for rally and street use. Great looks with exceptional build quality. The vehicle is in some ways considered the british equivalent to its german contemporary, the volkswagen beetle, which enjoyed similar popularity in north america. In 1999 the mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the ford model t. Designed as project ado15 (austin drawing office project number 15), the mini came about because of a fuel shortage caused by the 1956 suez crisis. Sliding windows allowed storage pockets in the hollow doors; reportedly the designer sized them to fit a bottle of gordons gin. The boot lid was hinged at the bottom so that the car could be driven with it open to increase luggage space. On early cars the number plate was hinged at the top so that it could swing down to remain visible when the boot lid was open. This feature was later discontinued after it was discovered that exhaust gases could leak into the cockpit when the boot was open. This car was built on november 22, 1968 and delivered to british leyland motor company of canada december 6, 1968. It has been upgraded beyond s specifications, this 1275cc cooper engine is bored 0. 40 over to 1340cc with forged dished pistons and 10. 5:1 compression ratio. Aluminum stage-1 cylinder head from mini mania, windsor 1. 5:1 roller rockers & a 45dcoe weber carb push the estimated power output to 130 bhp. With a zero to 60 time under 6 seconds and top speed of 115 mph, the original rubber bushing suspension has been converted to full shock absorbers, this car is fun & fast!

But while those roots are utilitarian, this later one received all the best factory upgrades to give it a level of comfort that the early ones could only dream about. The stylish buckets are piped in a cream color that matches the seatbelts, gearstick, and steering wheel. Also as a true english car there's plenty of wood trim on the dash and doors. This includes the driver's airbag, full gauge package, and a/c. This a+ series motor is a well-known and widely used powerplant that found a home in plenty of british vehicles, which makes parts availability quite easy. This was the largest engine that could fit in these little cars, and because this was part of the final series, it was even upgraded to fuel injection. This mini has an intoxicating mix of iconic style and great upgrades. We already seldom see original minis, so an exceptional one like this may never available again. The car is powered by a professionally prepared minicomp 1380 cc engine with an aluminum head mated to a 4-speed, 4-synchro, newer rod change transmission and driven by front wheel drive. This is an very high quality build with huge attention to detail in all areas. Highlights include its: outstanding customization and fabrication of the all steel body, cooper s brakes (disc and drum), gaz adjustable shocks, weber 45 carburetor, alloy intake manifold, lcb headers, s racer red coil springs, minilite style 8 spoke rally wheels, modified wood and pickett style wheel flares. The flywheel and clutch are lightened to minicomp spec’s with cooper s blue spot cover, the charging system has been upgraded to alternator, a small dry cell battery has been relocated to under the rear seat, body color mirrors, desirable roll back roof, and a custom fabricated fuel tank that holds 10 us gallons. The quality and attention to detail has been carried through to the interior featuring well fitted, high quality grey upholstery with modified recaro style seats, high quality signature wood dash and excellent gauges.
