Being an S2 it has the neater rear end treatment, with single lights on either side, Improved weather equipment, window locks, stronger running gear than the S1 models that preceded the S2. 1966 lotus elan se roadster --cirrus white and black interior, black carpeting and black convertible top, 40,554 original miles, 5-speed manual transmission, collector owned. During the 1965/1966 model years the standard chassis fitments included servo assisted brakes, lotus knock-on wheels, revised shock absorbers for improved high speed handling and radial high speed tires. This particular 1966 lotus elan s3 “special equipment” was purchased from its first owner in 1969 with 2,000 miles on the odometer at the time. The elan s3 was then carefully maintained and used seasonally as the owner’s prized possession for 45 years until he decided to sell in 2014 to another lotus collector and enthusiast. The original paint still shows very well with natural aged patina throughout. The interior has clearly benefited from dry storage and excellent care over the years, its wooden veneers showing little signs, even given the car is now 61 years old! The leather is still supple and soft and the carpets remain in excellent condition. After purchasing the lotus in 2014, it was decided to complete a full engine rebuild which included upgrading the crank seal. Given the age of the car and freshly rebuilt engine, a new gas tank was installed and the webber carburetors rebuilt and tuned. To ensure enjoyment in the hotter summer days, a larger radiator was installed to reduce any chance of overheating in traffic. The differential was rebuilt and new dave bean fast road suspension with cv joints installed together with an overhaul and upgrading of the braking system with more reliable but correct modern components. This lotus elan s3 “special equipment” surely represents a rare opportunity to acquire an excellent survivor that has benefited from a meticulously careful 45-year ownership and more recently treated to a mechanical overhaul. It is complete with books and tools, tonneau cover and soft top and ready for immediate use.

This left-hand-drive cortina was always a street car, and while its early history is not documented, it may have been delivered to the west coast when new, as it was discovered in northern california by its previous owner in 2006. Upon discovery, the decision was made to restore the aging cortina in the legendary red and gold livery of alan mann racing, one of fords most successful factory backed teams of the 1960s. When stripped for paint, the body was determined to be very solid, with no obvious evidence of accident damage. The original bumpers were re-chromed, while other bright work was left original. Inside, the seats and headliner were restored to original specification, as were all instruments, carpeting, and the heater. The door panels and center console remain original as found, while the cortina features a period am/fm radio. Over the past three years, many mechanical aspects of the car have been carefully restored or renewed. The engine, a proper lotus l-type block, was rebuilt; it is of standard bore and fitted with forged pistons, and additionally features fuel injection in place of the original carburetors. The differential has been uprated with 3. 55:1 gearing for easy cruising at freeway speeds. Suspension bushings were replaced for a tight driving experience, while the rear axle, braking and steering systems were refurbished. This listing is for a 1966 type 36 lotus elan coupe with a clear ma title. This particular car is an fhc (fixed head coupe) pre-airflow car. This car came from a local estate where it had been stored in a covered and enclosed garage since (we believe) the early 1980's as that was the time of the car's last known registration. The car was stored properly with fresh oil and all coolant drained. Please see pictures for car in its stored state and immediately after removal from garage. The mileage listed is the number on the odometer and on the title, but as the odometer is a 5 digit gauge, it could be in excess of its mechanical limits. When the car was pulled from the garage, air was put in the tires and it rolled freely. The motor turns over by hand freely, and we were able to start the motor on remote power and remote fuel. See pictures for overall condition of the vehicle. For its vintage, the undercarriage is in great shape with no visible rot. There are weber carburetors on the motor. The wheels on the car are the desirable lotus oem knock-off style wheels. The car is a perfect candidate for a full restoration, although should run and drive down the road with minimal effort. Please look at all of the pictures to review the cosmetic condition of the vehicle. There are many imperfections, most notably the passenger side door and rear quarter panel. The interior is in very nice condition for its age, again, please see pictures. This lotus has some racing provenance. It was owned and driven by well known auto enthusiast and multiple class scca driver walter grocki. It won multiple races to include the 1973 new england division solo ii championship. Other time sheets and trophies are included with the sale and can be seen in photographs in listing. It was raced predominately in the scca solo ii class. It should be eligible for the scca vintage racing classes. There are additional parts and items included in the sale. The larger items are: - oem steering wheel - the wood is in good shape, the spring is behind the center plate, but the interior bezel is missing- engine block - ford 1598cc ti4 711m6015ba kent crossflow block. This is the most desirable replacement non-oem block for these cars. - set of oem wheels - see picture for condition- "lotus-e" license plate- racing and personal items to include trophies, jackets, speeding ticket, pictures, time sheets, and moreadditional items include but are not limited to a new set of brake pads, bearings, cv parts, time sheets, original workshop manual, photocopied master parts list, and more - please see pictures for all items. As this was a stored estate vehicle, we were unable to locate the keys. Please review description, pictures, and ask any question before bidding on the car.
