The engine has 215 hp and is rated to go from zero to sixty in 5. 4 seconds and can reach top speed around 150mph. With only 1,562 produced, this sports car definitely fits in the rare category. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2004 by tony richards of autobahn exotics, who is generally regarded as the best lotus mechanic in the dallas-ft. All of the work was done meticulously and to factory specs. Detailed documentation and receipts of the rebuild is available. A new a/c compressor and headlight motor was also installed. It has only been driven 3,000 miles since the rebuild and the car also just had a complete full service with new timing belt, new front calipers, brake pads, plugs, plug wires, new clutch line and a fresh oil change. It is loaded with all the options such as power windows, power locks, power steering, 4-wheel disc power brakes, air conditioning, flip up head lights, power mirrors, center console, alloy wheels, removable sunroof, fog lights and power antenna. The sound system is a current alpine am/fm cd stereo. The original interior is in great condition with the door panels, carpet, headliner all looking great. The dash gauges, clock and lights are all operational and the a/c blows cold air. The leather seat cushions have small splits in the leather seam from normal usage. The 235/60r15 dunlop tires are like new. We have all receipts and documentation dating back to 1997 and it has a clean carfax report. We can coordinate shipping anywhere. This car is ready to drive! There were less then 600 special equipment (se) units made for the world in 1989, making it a very rare vehicle. In 1989, the esprit was improved with the gm multi-port, electronic fuel injection system and the addition of a water to air intercooler, which lotus has named the chargecooler, producing the se (special equipment). Several modifications were made to the body kit as well, like side skirts which are parallel to the body, five air ducts in the front air dam, wing mirrors from the citroen cx and the addition of a rear wing. This was one of the fastest and most nimble cars of it's time! With the inline 4 mid-rear engine produces 264 hp, and is well balanced. The stevens esprit played a role in the film pretty woman after ferrari and porsche declined the product placement opportunity because the manufacturers did not want to be associated with soliciting prostitutes. Lotus saw the placement value with such a major feature film and supplied a silver 1989. 5 esprit se. The car was also seen in basic instinct, the rookie, taking care of business and if looks could kill / teen agent, as well as the short-lived tv series the highwayman. This is one famous vehicle and rightly so, it is a little rocket that is a joy to drive!! Do not hesitate, this esprit is sure to please. We have done a minor service to the vehicle along with refreshing the paint on the nose of the vehicle due to cosmetic flaws. It shows extremely well and drives like a dream!
