This cobra is fitted with one of the original prototype front ends delivered to bud moore racing! The only other known surviving front end is on racing legend bud moore's own king cobra. The restoration was just completed and both the engine and transmission have been rebuilt for performance and durability. Special care was taken to preserve the imperfections on the front end. The car has been completely repainted in candy apple red paint inside and out. The undercarriage was stripped and repainted in red oxide. The chrome was sent to art brass plating for a show quality restoration. The stainless was professionally polished and looks amazing. The glass was all removed and professionally polished. The windshield was replaced. The interior features its original door panels and dash pad. The carpet, headliner and package tray were replaced due to wear and the interior looks incredible. The original speedometer has been replaced with a very rare nos 140mph police unit, these units when found bring around $3,000. The original instrument cluster bezel has been replated and looks amazing. The rim blow steering wheel was also professionally restored. This is a show ready interior with factory upholstery! The original engine and transmission have been rebuilt and still retain their original vin stamps. The engine has been upgraded with a larger camshaft and the cylinder heads have been ported. A shift kit was added to the transmission rebuild. A reproduction exhaust kit with an up-sized 2 1/2" pipe and higher flowing mufflers looks stock, but helps this cobra jet make the power and sound to back up its nascar heritage. The steering and suspension have all been restored as well. New suspension components in the factory finish, ready for the under-car show cam! The magnum 500 wheels are 15x7 in the front & 15x8 in the rear. New bf goodrich radial t/a's with 246 60 front & 275 60 in the rear. They fit perfectly and do not rub. Just in case the need ever arose, the alignment specs were set so this car can stretch its legs. With 4 degrees of positive caster and 3/4 degree of negative camber this car exudes confidence at 60 on the highway. Marti report, the october 1969 issue of motor trend magazine featuring the king cobra and a display poster are included in the sale. Call tom 7 days a week at 248-974-9513! The story begins with only 3 original cars believed to be made for testing purposes. This is strongly believed to be one of the earliest original front ends. There are no part numbers on the original noses as they were vendor-produced prototypes. In the beginning wind tunnel testing showed that the hood latch was too far back so the hoods had the latch moved forward. This is the only known nose with the rearward latch area. Bud moore purchased 2 of the king cobras from ford after the program was killed. He kept the yellow production version that had more refinements to the fiberglass front end. The other car had a damaged front end so a new standard production front end was installed and the car was sold. The front end was then sold separately and was tracked thanks to steve daniele and greg moore through its ownership and this is strongly believed to be that front end. The only surviving all original car is bud moore's yellow car with no graphics. The other known original king cobra is calypso coral has had an engine swap from the original 460 wedge engine to a boss 429. There is another yellow cobra that is considered to be an original with holman & moody vin numbers. His production run consisted of 4 front ends. He confirms that he used a repaired original front end from joey adams in louisiana to make the mold. Steve also indicated he remembered that the original front end had damage to the front corner, this car has consistent repairs that are visible from the interior side in the front nose cone area. The owner also worked with dr. From what the owner found so far, it is believed by all involved that this front end is the repaired original from the vermillion king cobra restored by steve daniele in the 1980's. This front end has the 'chop gun' blown in fiberglass construction with some fiberglass mat repairs in the front corners and lower fascia. The few (and only known) reproduction noses, made by daniel, used a glass mat construction throughout not the 'chop gun' style of the originals. Furthermore, this hood has a steel reinforcement and does not require a prop rod or stands, as do the reproduction hoods. This is truly a rare investment quality vehicle that has been given the royal treatment as far as restorations go. Torino is in good condition, there has been some retouch of the paint through the years but overall it is in good condition. The trim, rubber, glass, and chrome are all in good condition. The interior, undercarriage engine bay are in good condition. It is my opinion to a reasonable degree of certainty that this car has the original 429 cid v8 engine. Update 8/23/2015:in checking the back of engine block we confirmed numbers match. It was not fun but thankfully i have two flexible sons. This '70 torino gt has a very desirable option package that includes 429 cid v-8, 3-speed automatic transmission and is in an good overall condition.

Here is a very solid, clean and unmolested 1970 torino cobra. Bright gold metallic, ginger interior, n code 429 thunderjet with c6 automatic and 3. 25 traction lock rear axle. Also came from the factory with buckets seats, power steering and power disc brakes. An original shaker and correct rear window louvers have been added at some point. This is an original washington car, has just over 122k original miles and has been garaged its whole life.
