It was sporty, attractive, well-built, and smooth-running compared to the model t, which it replaced in the 1928 model year. Thousands of people were eager to see for themselves that "henry's made a lady out of lizzie," and they stormed ford showrooms when the model a debuted on december 2, 1927. In less than two weeks there were 400,000 orders, and henry ford could not keep up with the demand for his latest "gift" to an increasingly mobile nation. Despite the onset of the depression, model a production remained strong at 1,261,053 cars in 1930 but fell to 626,579 cars in 1931, the last year that the model a was produced. The 1929 ford model a coupe 2 door offered for sale here features a rumble seat, luggage rack, dual spare tires with covers and a chrome radiator guard. The body remains all henry ford steel. It is covered in brown with black fenders. The paint shows some wear but is in good condition overall. The black vinyl top remains in good condition as well. This car has been used in parades over the years and enjoyed by several owners in michigan. The model a market remains very solid and this a is good candidate for an addition to any collection.

Has a great running old 327 chevy with a 350 turbo automatic transmission, new edlebrock carburetor, new aluminum radiator, new electric cooling fan with relay. Quiet and smoth 57 chevy rear end with new brakes and wheel cylinders. All new wiring front to rear, all new dolphin gauges(all working). Incredibly original 1929 ford model a standard coupe . This old car has taught me so much more than any other car i've ever owned , just learning to start the engine and the run drive gear is just fascinating to me. I had plans for this car and was going to modify the seat so that i could drive it comfortably but have decided to leave it in its original configuration so that someone else can learn and see how it was built by henry ford . It's not a high dollar car but is one that someone can drive to shows and have fun with just the way it is. This 29 was owned by the same owner until the past year and a half, i have a pile of registrations going back many years and thousands of dollars of parts that will go with the car. The model a was a huge success for ford. The model a was a big change from the model t with all the varying model choices and amenities. The styling from edsel ford proved to be a huge success and sales nearly hit 5 million in the production years of 1927-1931. The chrome shines well and is in excellent shape. There is a rear mounted spare with a leather tire carrier cover. The interior was also redone at the time of the restoration, including seats, headliner, door panels and new rubber floor mats. There is a curtain that covers up the back window. The material on the top appears to be new as well. It appears that this was an intense “nut and bolt” restoration. All the nuts, bolts and hardware, all appear to be new. We took this for a road test and it ran well and held the road nice and tight. The engine was rebuilt and the clutch is new along with a throw out bearing and pressure plate. The front spindles were replaced along with the distributor and it has fresh manifolds.
