The familiar front-mounted 4.4 liter V12 and attractive Pininfarina styling ensured that the car retained all of the traditional positive Ferrari traits, ensuring an authentic vintage Ferrari experience and an excellent value compared to other front-engined V12 Ferraris from the same period. The inclusion of additional convenience and luxury features further enhanced the car's comfort, with standardized power steering and air conditioning. The combination of independent suspension all around for the first time on a 2 2 model and the new torque tube arrangement made the cars quieter, more comfortable, and more capable than ever before Air Conditioning

Seller's comments and description: ferraris iconic daytona, was officially designated the ferrari 365 gtb 4 but obviously far more commonly referred to simply as the daytona. The daytona replaced ferraris aging 275 gtb4 as their new flagship, top of the line production model beginning in 1968. It was initially introduced to the world at the paris auto salon in 1968 and would go on to be produced over a full five year production run that would eventually see no less than 1,284 examples being completed making it even more rare than ferraris f40 supercar.

Styling on ferraris new daytona was revolutionary in all regards. although apininfarinadesign, as with many previous ferrari road cars styled byleonardo fioravanti,the365 gtb/4 was radically different, replacing the traditional rounded design with much more sharp-edgedstyling. Early daytonas featured fixedheadlightsbehind anacrylic glasscover. a new u. Safety regulationbanning headlights behind covers resulted in retractable pop-up twin headlights from 1971 until the end of production. Daytona 16685: this particular ferrari daytona is a standard production, north american market model. it was assembled in the winter of 1972/1973 and completed in january of 1973. early ownership is unknown at this time, however noted ferrari collector and founder of foreign cars italia in greensboro, north carolina, steve barney reported on september 17th, 1984 that the car was owned and offered for sale by ms. Kim culver in seattle washington. it was described by her as an original usa version, red with black interior and had covered 26,500 miles from new. Two years later in 1986, the ferrari owners club of america ownership registry listed mr. Farris of palm desert, california as the current owner. the following year, in 1987, portland, oregon ferrari dealer, monte shelton offered this ferrari for sale describing it as red with black interior, completely original with all manuals plus documentation. two sets of wheels and tires, borranis and star mags. shortly thereafter this ferrari was sold and purchased by a japanese museum collection. total mileage at the time of purchase was 28,600 miles. it was shipped to japan and first road-registered there on april 12th, 1988. it was issued nagoya plates "33 1557." the original japanese owner was the world-famous museum collector, mr. Daytona 16685 restoration: from november of 2009 until to october of 2016,this ferrari underwent a complete and total restoration by art sports corporation ltd. Seller's comments and description: the order requested a rosso corsa vehicle with lower “black boxer” trim and a standard black leather interior. The only options requested were a multi-band pioneer stereo radio and zf limited slip differential. This is a very early and more desirable series three example. It was the 5th of just 149 series three 365gt/4 bb boxers completed. These all featured a variety of improvements and refinements that solved and sorted out earlier design issues and flaws of those built previously. Most noticeably was an improvement in handling and braking as well as reliability. No. 250 with “numero interno” case numbers 123 and individually stamped with engine no. “f102a000 *00254*” which it retains to this day. The gearbox assigned was no. “zf228” which further confirms it was fitted from new with a zf limited slip differential which it still retains to this day. This is a completely rust and accident free example that retains all of the rare early ferrari 365bb features that sets these examples far and apart from the later production 512bb and 512bbi models. The original and correct “mushroom” seats, correctly part numbered ansa “tripple-tip” exhaust system, hard “headliner” with sun shades unique cromodora magnesium/alloy 7. 5 inch front and 9 inch rear wheels are just a few of these features. F102ab is also an extremely original “survivor” with a completely original and never restored interior as well as most of the original paint with only the lower “boxer” trim black areas showing signs of a repaint. All date coded items such as the original koni shocks front and rear still have the correct 1974 assembly date codes. Other than the more modern radio and cooling system expansion tank, it would very hard to near impossible to find a more correct original or lower mileage surviving example.

This particular ferrari 365gt4/bb was special ordered new by autobecker in germany on behalf of a favored client. The order was processed and the vehicle given an official completion date of december 9th, 1974. The original color as ordered and completed new was a bright orange, designated "rosso dino 20-r-350” a color more commonly found on dinos of the same vintage. Sometime shortly thereafter this ferrari, now painted a more standard red with black boxer trim was sold and purchased by the official japanese ferrari importer and distributor cornes motors corporation ltd., of tokyo, japan. It was officially imported into japan in june of 1977 at which time it had recored 19,100 kilometers. In july of 1977, japanese road registration authorities assigned the vehicle the japanese control number 43 7219 and issued it new japanese title and road registration with plates "399-5941.” this ferrari boxer would remain un-driven and on display and offered for sale by cornes motors for the next twelve years until it was finally sold on march 14th, 1989 to mr. The individual component numbers at the time of production and to this day are as follows: -body no 108 -production sequence no 256 -engine no 250 -gearbox no 300 -rear axle no 250 (this is as such an all matching number vehicle retaining the main components, frame and body as originally assigned and completed by ferrari in january of 1972) several moths after completion, this ferrari was then assigned for sale on an order placed on july 6th, 1972 by chinetti garthwaite imports, inc., of 1234 lancaster avenue, rosemont, pa 19010 usa on behalf of new owner, jose luis de pedroso of 534 new gulph road, haverford, pa 19041 usa. De pedroso's use that summer. De pedroso agreed to pay $18,675 for this ferrari but was given a credit of $9,000 by trading in his 1967 ferrari 275 gtb/4, s/n 10099. De pedroso accepted delivery of his new ferrari from client services on august 2nd, 1972. He then enjoyed the vehicle on a european holiday returning it to ferrari client services at the end of august, 1972 at which time he requested that the vehicle be serviced and prepared at his expense for delivery via chinetti garthwaite imports, inc., in rosemont, pa for follow on delivery to his home in haverford, pa. De pedroso retained and enjoyed this ferrari over the next 26 years and was recorded in various foc and fca registers as the owner residing and maintaining the ferrari at his home in haverford, pa 19041 usa. Sometime circa 1990 the vehicle began to perform poorly backfiring and having starting and driving issues. The car was stored and not driven when it was offered for sale by de pedroso. This ferrari was then sold and purchased by karam automotive, inc., of 104 north patton street, west chester, pa 19380 and then sent to algar ferrari of rosemont, pa 19010 on september 8th, 1998. At the time of purchase and this service, this ferrari had covered 20,807 miles from new. Upon completion of these services, this ferrari was offered for public sale. On march 31st, 1999, david romer and his brother, richard romer agreed to purchase this ferrari through mike regalia's services for a price of $58,000. The vehicle was to be delivered to mr. Regalia's home in sun valley, california where it would receive a full bare-metal repaint and extensive restoration and repair work over the next ten months. The car was then over the next 14 years carefully cared for and serviced by the romer brothers without consideration for time or expense until their eventual sale in the summer of 2014 to a private collector in northern california. The following letter written by former owner, david romer outlines a bit of the history of this ferrari during his and his brother's ownership: david romer 6150 canoga ave # 301 woodland hills, california. 91367 september 14, 2014 re: c/4 15189 mike regalia found 365gtc/4 sn 15189 for me in mike had acted as my agent finding my first ferrari a 1985 308 gts qv. After buying that car i quickly figured out that the front engine v12's were where i wanted to be. In 1999 mike was running the restoration department of the nethercutt museum here in sylmar ca. I was introduced to him through robert nethercutt, a flying friend of mine. The car was located back east. We bought it the car and had it shipped directly to mike's home and shop in sun valley for a bare metal repaint and mechanical sorting prior to me taking possession. The interior of the car is original black leather / black carpet. I re-dyed the front seats this year and the mouse fur was replaced in 99 with the correct material. I have the factory build sheet that is included in the photo set that shows the original colors and options. The motor was strong when we bought the car. We pulled the engine compartment down to the heads and rebuilt everything else. I believe that my brother richard and i are the 3rd owners of the car.
