Ferrari engaged pininfarina design legend, leonardo fioravanti, to breathe life into what is now one of ferraris most iconic shapes. The gorgeous design was an instant hit at the 1975 paris motor show and would survive in fundamental form to grace the legendary 288 gto. Underneath, a sophisticated 3 liter 4 cam weber-carbureted v-8 provided the power accompanied by an impressive soundtrack all the way to 7,700 rpm. Much as the db5 aston martin became associated with james bond, the 308 gts gained fame in its own right starring with tom selleck in the magnum pi television series. The matching numbers carbureted example offered here is finished in its original ferrari color combination of white with black leather interior. As a gts, it features a removable targa top but also includes refinements such as air conditioning and power windows. This car is in top-performance specification with its original emissions equipment. The car is not currently running as it has been sitting and requires a major service including cam-belt replacement, after that this 308 gts is ready to be enjoyed. This is a two owner california car that has a documented 14,080 original miles. In 1980 it was sold to the second owner who mildly flared the wings and added deep dish ferrari wheels making it like the group b racing series of the early 1980s. The car popularized by magnum p. Ferraris are iconic in their own right but the 308 model became known to the general public thanks to tom selleck’s role in the tv series, magnum p. And, as an added bonus, the 308s are very affordable. Market in february 1981 and sold new in oklahoma city. This is a solid driver with nice cosmetics and strong mechanicals. It has traveled a total of almost 79,000 miles and only about 13,000 miles since its last major service twelve years ago. The car is virtually free of chips and scratches, having been continuously garaged. Post repaint, the bottom panels of the doors were redone and, while not noticeable, are a shade or two different than the rest of the car. The trim is in good condition as is the glass. the interior is finished in black leather that is in good condition except for signs of wear (see picture) on the driver’s seat, and looks great against the red exterior. The carpeting and door panels are all in good condition as well. Strong mechanicals this gts is the “i” series which designates the engine as the later, fuel injected model—a 3. 0 liter, dual overhead cam v-8 that is rated at 205 hp. The engine runs properly through all portions of its power curve making for exciting acceleration and driving. as impressive as the engine is in this 308, the rebuilt transmission makes the car a delight to drive. It shifts smoothly and the synchromesh transmission works smooth as silk on the downshifts. This is a car that is fun to drive whether going hard on a curvy mountain road or cruising around town. Comfort, safety and entertainment equipment the air conditioning on this ferrari works properly and blows cold, making it comfortable to drive even on the hottest days. All of the safety equipment (lights, turn signals, wipers and horn) work properly as well. This red 308 gtsi looks like a ferrari should look, runs like a ferrari should run and sounds like a ferrari should sound. Air Conditioning
