The particulars of the truck are as follows: * u. Of interior, national park service truck. (rocky mountain national park) * the w150 was in service from 1979-1993. Upon being designated for retirement, the truck was offered for sale and subsequently purchased by the park ranger that had exclusively utilized the truck during its entire service at rmnp, colorado. * the u. Government had a long standing service contract with dodge for military & civilian purpose service vehicles dating back to the early 1940's. * 5. 2 liter, 318 ci v8, renown for its durability & reliability. This engine fires right up first turn of the key, it holds a smooth idle and is amazingly quiet. It'll climb a tree * only 55k actual miles !! * no rust!! Upon retirement, the ranger drove the truck minimally over the next 18 years. His intention being to maintain, enjoy, and keep it "forever". Upon passing in 2011, he bequeathed the truck to his daughter who is personally known to me. After 5 years of periodic starts and short drives, she determined that she would not be in a position to restore the truck, and i subsequently purchased it. As a collector/hobbyist for many years i've performed and had performed, numerous levels of vehicle "restoration". To me, there is truly only one true level of restoration and that is a full frame off. This truck did not necessitate nor receive, a full restoration. It received what i have termed to be a "rejuvenation/refurbishment" at a cost exceeding $8k. I wanted to preserve the historic aspect of its park service purpose. This is indicated on both doors with the following text: for official use only u. Government department of the interior national park service in addition, beneath the text is the "arrowhead" logo, which was adopted for use by the department of interior in 1951 for all u. It was decided that the truck should be clear coated to preserve the surface rust "patina" while retaining the "distressed" appearance of the 39 model year(s) old truck. Rust is the deterioration of metal, it is essentially "alive". If one simply applies clear coat over existing surface rust, it will fall off in a years time. The procedure to properly apply clear coat rust is to scotch brite the surface with soapy water.

He immediately put on custom aluminum wheels with aggressive tread tires and had the truck undercoated to protect against rust. He only drove the truck on special occasions over the past 38 years and it was never driven on snowy/salted roads. It was always parked in a garage and he always started and drove it at least once a year. The truck has a total of 10,513 original miles in it's 38 years!! Never in an accident! This truck is all original except he replaced the original radio with a radio shack cassette stereo and added behind-the-seat speakers. I believe the in-dash tachometer was also added by him when it was new. He kept the original wheels and tires in his basement all these years and they are now back on the truck. The original tires are basically new and still have the little rubber spikes sticking out of the tread. They can't have more than 10 miles on them!! The truck runs, but could use fresh gas and a tuneup. I did replace the battery and the fuel pump was leaking so we put a new pump and fuel filter in it. I don't think he ever hauled anything in the back. The box is in "like new" condition and he always had a custom rubber mat in the bed to protect it. When i lifted the mat up i was amazed to see that the bed still looks like the day it was made only with a little bit of dust. Maybe a few light scratches. The interior of the truck is also in amazing condition! The seat was covered from the day it was new. I did take the cover off now. The custom aluminum rims are still like new, but the custom tires have gone bad over the years and have separating rubber in spots, so they are no longer safe to drive, but the original tires seem to be in perfect condition! This truck has the usual rust including some in the floor pan which needs patched, low rockers and mainly over the rear tires on the bed. This truck runs good, has a manual choke which is aftermarket, which needs a bracket to work properly. Transmission shifts good, power steering works, lights and turn signals work as should. Truck sits up nice and drives nice for a 38 year old truck. Truck has a clear title. Please ask all questions prior to bidding.
