Under the hood is Chevy's famous 350 cubic-inch V8. That is great in a go-anywhere 4x4 that has a two-speed transfer case for the best off-road performance. The V8 is legendary for being quite adaptable, but right now this powerplant appears charmingly quite factory correct. That also means it has led a good life, and that's reflected in how it fires up readily and idles smoothly.
