Suddenly, its 1962 all over again. With the vast majority of 62 biscaynes coming equipped with a heater, this specific biscayne is a heater-delete car, a rare situation for the model. The 409 ci v-8 engine was built by lamar walden and produces 380 hp; complete with the dual-snorkel air cleaner, a single 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhausts, an msd ignition was installed to ensure smart startups. A 4-speed manual transmission with the correct shifter takes the power to the rear wheels while a sun tachometer keeps the driver informed of whats going on under the hood. Presented in white with a blue split-back bench-seat interior, the biscayne also features tinted glass, color-matched steel wheels with dog-dish hubcaps and a direct approach to everythingthis car is all business, all muscle and impresses anywhere it goes with its condition, lack of frills and gobs of torque-on-demand. Despite being a heater-delete car, it does have a radio, but the floors are simple rubber mats, in that efficient style so uniquely fitting the biscayne line. Introduced late in 1961, only 142 409-equipped chevrolets were built; but, by 1962, word was out about the new fire-breathing v-8 and 15,019 409-equipped chevrolets were produced. However, only a small percentage of them were biscaynes, the majority being installed in more luxuriously equipped impalas. This one, with the extensive restoration, attention to authenticity, heater delete and more, is truly a remarkable example of a rare biscayne 409.
