The Paint is in overall great condition. It “looks” period. It’s not a super shiny two stage modern paint, which just looks WRONG on these cars. This looks like old lacquer or enamel. The Chrome is a solid 8.5 overall with the bumpers being in the 9’s. The Motor starts right up and idles like a sewing machine. It does not smoke or cough or hesitate in any way. The transmission shifts smooth and effortlessly. The Motor Compartment feels completely original, including all the wiring and original painted surfaces. All hoses and belts have been replaced consistently over the years and are in like new condition.

Limited production 50th anniversary edition with this being 1 of 1,690 produced. This car was purchased from a massachusetts family estate and has been in storage since last driven in 1964. It is very complete, with as far as i can tell all of the stainless trim accounted for. The antenna assembly is missing and other than that appears all there and is a great candidate for restoration. the continental kit although never a factory option was offered by many buick dealers as an add on option and this one does appear to be complete. The car has very minimal rust on the body and has mostly surface rust. The floors and trunk are also very good with a few small holes on the drivers side and some inside the spare tire well. The frame is also very solid. The buick nail head v-8 also appears to be complete and was in running condition when last driven and put into storage. The mileage shown is 59052 and is quite possibly original. With that said this is a rare low production car that appears to be very complete and well worth restoration. Want more pictures just let me know. I have a current title in my name and can also assist with shipping as i have a very good reliable shipper.

The paint is currently original but i am near making a decision to paint it red (see another red i owned and liked) or repaint it in original white. So there is time on that. It does have some imperfections. The exterior paint has great patina with some eggshell cracking, dings and scratches in the over 60 year old paint. Its nice to get the original paint bonus points at the high-end car shows. The skylark has earned several blue ribbons. The leather seats are new. The drive train is solid and original. There are a few gasket leaks. The tires have less that 100 miles on them, they are diamondback classic wide whitewalls. The hydraulic top, seats and windows all worked before draining the system. The body is straight and rust free, spent most of its life in nevada. The skylark comes with a ton of original memorabilia and even the original owners manual. Again very original and solid blue chip investment grade 53 skylark. A little history for those not familiar with this baby. The 1953 buick skylark was built to commemorate buick's 50th golden anniversary. Buick was gm's founding brand, so this was a big moment in their history. The 53 skylark is virtually a production handmade custom car. It was based on the roadmaster line, however the fenders, doors, quarter panels, window frames, seats were all sectioned and/or modified by hand to obtain that perfect look. They went all out, and spared no expense. Designer, harley earl, created the perfect combination of style and performance. A truly elegant piece of rolling art. They did not stop with just the design. As they billed this 4315lb vehicle as a sports car, and it was just that. The 1953 buick skylark was the perfect fusion of a luxury and sports car at the time. Every 53 skylark came fully optioned from the factory. These options included every amenity offered in 1953, such as power brakes, steering, windows, convertible top, seats and even a powered antenna for the foot controlled selectronic radio. Kelsey-hayes 40 spoke wire wheels with wide white walls were also standard. The 53 skylark epitomized luxury and class. The elegant leather interior was complimented with the sweepspear moldings and stunning chrome. 1953 was the first year of the 322/188hp v8 ohv nailhead motor.
