The rockers and cross member ends were rebuilt (the doors open and close easily, door gaps are good) but the jack pockets were not remade and the body to rocker seam was removed and smoothed in with no rocker molding trim, a nice look but not correct. The left wheel arch , door and front fender was lightly rubbed against something ,knocking a little plastic and paint off the rear quarter lip and scuffing the paint on the door and left front fender (see pictures). No bubbling body plasti AM/FM

Exterior body and paint have been professionally restored. Chrome/bright work are in excellent condition. Soft top is black, in like-new condition. The engine has been replaced a number of years ago. It's current engine is the same as the one it replaced. The giulietta series was produced from 1954 to 1965 by italian car maker alfa romeo. The first giulietta was a coupe and it was shown in italy at the 1954 turin motor show. Sedan production began the following spring. During the summer of 1955, the giulietta was presented as a two-seat spider featuring a convertible top and bodywork by famed coach builder pinin farina. It was powered by a 1300 single-carburetor, twin-cam engine, which featured a light allow engine block and an alloy hemispherical cylinder head. The light curb weight of 1,850 pounds contributed to the ability of achieving its 120 mph top speed. The spider was well known for stability at high speed and ease of driving at its limits.

The company that became alfa romeo was founded as società anonima italiana darracq (said) in 1906 by the french automobile firm of alexandre darracq, with some italian investors. One of them, cavaliere ugo stella, an aristocrat from milan, became chairman of the said in 1909. The firm's initial location was in naples, but even before the construction of the planned factory had started, darracq decided late 1906 that milan would be a more suitable location and accordingly a tract of land was acquired in the milan suburb of portello, where a new factory of 6,700 square metres was erected. Late 1909, the italian darracq cars were selling slowly and stella, with the other italian co-investors, founded a new company named a. A. (anonima lombarda fabbrica automobili), initially still in partnership with darracq. The first non-darracq car produced by company was the 1910 24 hp, designed by giuseppe merosi, hired in 1909 for designing new cars more suitable to the italian market. Merosi would go on to design a series of new a. Cars with more powerful engines. Also ventured into motor racing, drivers franchini and ronzoni competing in the 1911 targa florio with two 24 hp models. However, the onset of world war i halted automobile production at alfa for three years. In august 1915 the company came under the direction of neapolitan entrepreneur nicola romeo, who converted the factory to produce military hardware for the italian and allied war efforts. Munitions, aircraft engines and other components, compressors and generators based on the company's existing car engines were produced in a vastly enlarged factory during the war. When the war was over, romeo invested his war profits in acquiring locomotive and railways carriage plants in saronno (costruzioni meccaniche di saronno), rome (officine meccaniche di roma) and naples (officine ferroviarie meridionali), which were added to his a. Car production had not been considered at first, but resumed in 1919 since parts for the completion of 105 cars were still lying at the a. In 1920, the name of the company was changed to alfa romeo with the torpedo 20-30 hp becoming the first car to be badged as such. Their first success came in 1920 when giuseppe campari won at mugello and continued with second place in the targa florio driven by enzo ferrari. Giuseppe merosi continued as head designer, and the company continued to produce solid road cars as well as successful race cars (including the 40-60 hp and the rl targa florio). The first alfa romeo under jano was the p2 grand prix car, which won alfa romeo the inaugural world championship for grand prix cars in 1925. For alfa road cars jano developed a series of small-to-medium-displacement 4, 6, and 8 cylinder inline power plants based on the p2 unit that established the classic architecture of alfa engines, with light alloy construction, hemispherical combustion chambers, centrally-located plugs, two rows of overhead valves per cylinder bank and dual overhead cams. Jano's designs proved to be both reliable and powerful. Enzo ferrari proved to be a better team manager than driver, and when the factory team was privatised, it then became scuderia ferrari. When ferrari left alfa romeo, he went on to build his own cars. Tazio nuvolari often drove for alfa, winning many races prior to world war ii. In 1928 nicola romeo left, with alfa going broke after defense contracts ended, and in the end of 1932 alfa romeo was rescued by the government, which then had effective control. Alfa became an instrument of mussolini's italy, a national emblem.

The car is very correct and original. The car was originally sold to nsu in werk, germany on december 2, 1959. The car is in excellent mechanical condition, and is in excellent “driver quality” condition. She would make an excellent candidate for a full restoration or, she could just be maintained and driven just as she is. The body is very straight, and the red paint looks good. All of the exterior trim and bright-work is original and in nice condition. If the car has a weak point, it would be in the red paint; though shiny and nice, there is checking on almost every panel. The interior has an excellent patina, with her correct original black sport seats, and red carpets in a condition befitting her age. The engine is the venerable 1290cc 4-cylinder alfa motor, built to correct original specification. She still retains her original single solex carburettor setup. The engine is very well sorted, and puts out good power and torque. The underside is excellent, as new floors were just installed. The exhaust system is in excellent condition the car has her correct 4-wheel finned aluminum drum brakes, the linings are new, as are the hydraulics; the car stops with authority. The 5-speed transmission shifts well, the clutch is new. Her steel wheels are shod with new khumo radial tires. The car is mechanically excellent and is a blast to drive!!!
