Built in 2017 from a full mkiv factory five kit with many options, this cobra is licensed as a 1965 historic vehicle. (no emissions, cheap to insure). Powered by a 351 winsor custom built by phoenix engines. The 408hp coupled with a 5 speed tremec 500 and a high performance moser rear provides incredible acceleration. The tremec 500 has a low first gear and a high 5th gear, so it is stink fast and cruise well. The cooling system has been seriously upgraded with a pwm fan, shroud and thermostatically controlled oil cooler so this cobra keeps it's cool evne on the hotest arizona days. Paint is, imo, pretty good, but i did it myself and it is not a professional paint job and has some orange peel. i am a retired senior principal engineer and took a full year to build this car. No compromises on hardware, parts, or assembly. Gauges are historically correct, including reverse reading speedometer, but are actual high tech gps gauges. Car has always been garaged. handling is perfect and performance is breathtaking. Upgraded wheels, tires, electric fuel pump, gauges, battery, cooling and chrome exhaust heat shield. Chrome side exhausts provide stereo. Only one channel, but damn does it sound good. Forward shift kit makes shifting fast and fun. This car is easy to drive, fast, loud, and, did i mention, fast. One year old and licensed as an historic vehicle is the best of both worlds, a new car that is cheap to insure and registers.

The world of cobra roadsters is much like the world of street rods: there are nice cars and then there are cars that take things to a whole new level. That means cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great variety of aftermarket support, and that makes it pretty easy to build a roadster any way they like it. The problem then becomes the amount of time and money that such a massive undertaking requires. After spending years writing check after check to shop after shop, the enthusiast finally gets to enjoy a car that, by that point in time, they might not even want. Fortunately, there is a better solution! Bodywork/trim as the only shelby licensed replica of the original 1965 cobra, this roadster's sublime superformance body utilizes high quality, hand laminated fiberglass to create a rock-solid drop-top that provides a first-rate driving experience. Those stiffly reinforced panels, titled as a special construction cobra in 2006, feature the smooth surfaces and typically tight gaps we've come to expect from top tier cobra replicas. And that excellent fit and finish is a testament to both oem-quality and a series of talented technicians. Those excellent aesthetics found glossy indigo blue metallic 2-stage under metallic charcoal racing stripes. And overall, this shelby's timeless combination of killer style, serious performance and contemporary build techniques creates an irresistible curve carver that'll keep onlookers marveling! Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. And naturally, this cobra hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, an aggressive nose hangs chrome-trimmed headlights over mesh grilles, tinted, bullet-style parking lamps and polished quick lifts. A small hood anchors a riveted scoop in front of locking latches, polished wipers and tinted visors. Behind that hood, a full canvas top hangs lexan side windows between a "superformance" branded windshield, clear wind wings and a polished roll bar. Fire is provided by an msd blaster 2 coil, which is connected to an msd distributor and loomed ford racing plug wires. Ceramic-coated headers evacuate spent gases in to the aforementioned side-pipes. At the front of the block, billet pulleys spin a fresh alternator opposite modern power steering. And the dyno-tuned engine features a roster of well-planned details, including a polished fuel pump, braided fuel lines and a quality weiand water pump. Drivetrain/suspension one of the best things about buying any high quality replica is the modern hardware underneath. At the center of those bones, a rugged tremec 5-speed twists a tough dana third member. Torque meets the tarmac through alloy knock-offs, which twist 255/60r15 yokohama avid s/ts in front of 295/50r15 yokohama avid s/ts. And details like braided lines and a deep-sump oil pan round out an otherwise impressive build. Interior cobra interiors have always been stylish and simple, and one look inside this roadster reveals just how serious the car's aspirations are when it comes to being driver-focused. Buff bucket seats wear tight leather hides. In front of those seats, a cobra-branded dash hangs a clean combination of smiths and auto meter gauges beside a locking glovebox that features a familiar carroll shelby signature. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors found polished poppers behind simple panels. Below those doors, clean carpet centers a booted e-brake and polished shifter between a polished fire extinguisher and colorful superformance floor mats. The driver feels the asphalt through a polished steering wheel, which twists a leather-wrapped rim. And the passenger stows cargo in a fully finished trunk. Engine when this kirkham's owner decided to build a cobra, he wanted something that was powerful but well-mannered. And, even though 427s are lots of fun, they simply aren't that streetable. So, while this roadster is, like all kirkham 289 fia hybrids, founded on a 427 chassis, power is all small block all the way. Beginning life as a ford performance boss 302, the car's spry powerplant utilizes 363 cubic inches of displacement to twist 10. 2 to 1 compression into just over 500 horsepower. At the top of the engine, a shelby signature air cleaner drops wind through a 750cfm quick fuel double pumper that's backed by an electric choke, braided fluid lines and a quality quick fuel regulator. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from an edelbrock rpm air gap intake to ford racing z-heads, which hide fluid roller rockers under polished breathers and shelby signature valve covers. Beneath those heads, a forged scat crank pushes forged scat rods, which balance forged mahle pistons at the sides of a hydraulic roller cam. At the front of that cam, an msd pro-billet distributor sequences fire between ford racing plug wires and msd 6al ignition. As combustion is sparked, resultant gases are jettisoned through $3k worth of stainless headers that were assembled by mp custom fabrication. At the front of those tubes, a polished concept one serpentine drive spins a polished powermaster alternator above a big edelbrock water pump. And in front of that drive, a beefy aluminum radiator runs coolant past a large-diameter puller fan and a billet kirkham expansion tank. Drivetrain/suspension one of the best things about buying a professionally engineered cobra tribute is the impressive hardware underneath. Behind the stalwart small block, a tremec tko600 5-speed makes excellent use of a modern driveline bellhousing, a hydraulic zoom clutch and a billet ford racing flywheel. Vented discs combine with quality wilwood calipers to provide confidence-inspiring stops. Modern rack-and-pinion steering makes low speed parking almost as easy as high speed sweeps. Exhaust makes haste through custom, side-exit pipes which, with the help of dei-wrapped spintech mufflers, create a smooth roar that's uninhibited by popping or flapping. And power meets the pavement through attractive knock-offs, which spin 245/60r15 futura gls super sports in front of 275/60r15 futura gls super sports. In front of those seats, a painted dash hangs full telemetry over standard driver ventilation and optional passenger ventilation. Below that dash, fade-free carpet frames simple hand controls between dei heat shield, fat man floor insulation and color-keyed floor mats. And in front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel spins polished spokes around a colorful cobra inlay. It's an adventuresome take on two of the most desirable cobras ever produced.
