1968 Triumph TR4A IRSThe Michelotti-styled Triumph TR4 built on the success of the TR3 with masculine good looks and respectable performance. It also added the comfort of roll-up windows and the enhanced drivability of a fully synchronized gearbox. The TR4 was successful in competition and featured many advanced features for its time including rack-and-pinion steering and front disk brakes. Unlike some other small roadsters of the 1960s, the TR4 has plenty of power to feel safe merging in traffic and overtaking other cars on country roads. It is hard to find a TR4 in any condition, and even harder to find a nice, unmolested, rust-free example like this one. This Triumph is well sorted and a great driver. It's rust free with original paint and good panel gaps all the way around. The car has enjoyed the same owner since new and is still on its original Georgia new car title. It was purchased from a dealership in Memphis Tennessee and then registered and kept in Atlanta Georgia it entire life. Under the hood, the original matching number engine is fed by pair of well-tuned Stromberg sidedraft carburetors. The suspension and gearbox are both nice and tight and the car is ready for the road or show. Like the exterior the upholstery, carpet, wood dash and Jaeger gauges are all original to the car. The top and tonneau cover are in excellent condition, in fact the tonneau has never been out of the box. All of the original chrome is in great shape. Using the "Hagerty" Rating System we rate this car a #2#2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent.".

The engine was removed during that same time, allowing for all other major parts to be checked and repaired as necessary, like the crankshaft bearings and seals were replaced and all additonal interimaintenence was preformed. Also, new brakes and several other minor repairs were professionally done at the same shop. I'm selling this car because I just don't have time to enjoy it anymore. Thirty five years plus, with this love of my life ... its time now for my wife. In 2000 (or 8,000 miles ago) the clutch was replaced also with the rear main seal was converted to a modern neoprene seal

The body is very straight and shows no signs of damage. Doors, hood, fenders and trunk fit wonderfully. The glass is original and the chrome and bright work is in amazing shape for their age. The interior is a real time capsule. The leather seats show no rips or tears and look great. The wood dash is original and in excellent condition. The steering wheel is crack free. The door cards, carpet and trunk area are in outstanding shape as well. The cars gauges work as they should, the radio turns on but does not play. The soft top was replaced in 1974. The 2138 cc motor runs, starts every time and runs like a swiss watch. The engine bay is clean and tidy and it is clear that it has run this way since new. The transmission shifts smoothly and the car is a pleasure to drive in town and at highway speeds. Braking is excellent and the car has nearly new michelin tires and spare.
