I've owned thisBenz since I was in high school and I've loved every minute of it (over 10years). Over that time it has been incredibly reliable, needing only very basicmaintenance, oil changes, and fuel. The person I purchased the Benz from tookincredible care of it for nearly 20 years and was part of the reason why I chosethis one over the other Benz' available at the time. In turn, I have verycomplete service records for almost every repair ever done to it. This is a niceplus for a car of this age. Also, this car is a California car. Generally, thisBenz is in great shape and is an excellent candidate for restoration. Theexterior is in good shape with only superficial rust near the rear wheel well. The paint is in great shape, showing only mild sun fade. More of the same is inthe interior with nice sheepskin seat covers upfront and comfortable originalrear seats. Some of the interior switches don't work and the sun roof /rear window motors don't work anymore. The vacuum system is in pretty goodshape, so the door locks work, which is rare for older Benz'. I upgradedthe radio to work for an iPod a couple of years ago.

This is a turbo diesel perfect for a 4x4 swap. Car runs and drives but needs a valve adjustment. I don't have the tools of the expertise to preform the work. Turbo makes 10psi and spools nicely. Just preformed a diesel purge which helped but i feel like the valves need to be adjusted to get the full power out of it. Would suggest to bring a trailer because tires are not good/road worthy.

I had to list as a 1980 because ebay didn't recognize the vin#. This diesel benz has just 136k miles -- that's barely broken in for these legendary 5-cylinder engines. This is the non-turbo model. She's all original, with all her beltline trim and chrome pieces, and very little rust. I think i'm the 3rd owner. Air conditioning works and has been updated to cfc-free refrigerant. 4-speed automatic transmission. Power steering, brakes and passenger side mirror. I have had the following maintenance items and work performed:> new goodyear assurance tires (x4)> new front brake calipers (x2) with brake fluid flush> new engine block heater element and cord with new coolant flush> valve adjustments> automatic transmission tune-up (shifts great once she's warmed up)> new rear shocks> new rear stabilizer bar links> new primary and secondary fuel filters> new air filter element> new engine mounts> new jvc in-dash radio with bluetooth and usb connections (original radio comes with car, too)> new dual hornscar runs like a top and gets about 23 mpg in combined city/hwy driving. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this sedan cross-country. Completely dependable. Here are the not-so-perfect aspects of the car:> passenger side rear window crank handle cracked -- need a new one (easy fix in junkyard)> front passenger fender seems to have been replaced -- not sure when the accident occurred or how bad the accident was> typical rust in all the usual places for these 300-series cars: jack ports on rocker panels, battery tray, rear window trim, bottom of wheel arches> i stop-gapped and fixed rust in a few areas, but a pro-body man could've done better. I used por-15 and bondo/fiberglass cloth at end of driver-side wheel arch beneath corner of trunk; and at end of passenger front wheel arch down by trim. Michaelangelo i ain't.> headlight aim dial doesn't work on center console> rear stereo speakers aren't connected to new radio (too much work so i didn't bother)> dash clock inoperative. Not sure what's wrong. It seemed to work intermittently, but then stopped.> dash has uv cracks and glovebox is misaligned due to cracked plastic interior trim plate.> zebrano wood trim strips on dash have come off and are warped. Previous owner tried to glue them back on, but left a messy trail of attempts. :(> hood hinges got bent a little when previous owner tried to slam the hood after it had been clicked upright into locked position. :( but they work fine.> underhood insulation mat missing. This car is taking up space, needing to sell asap. It has an inline coolant heater, pod filter intake (stock air box is in the trunk), fresh oil change with european diesel oil, will come with extra parts, car is a good driver but will need a little work to pass inspection.
