For the first three years of the eldorado’s life, it was not only the highest priced domestic car on the market, it was also available only as a convertible. That changed for 1956 with the introduction of the seville hardtop. Based on the coupe de ville, the seville had luxury appointments that placed it well ahead of the competition. Priced on a par with the convertible it featured a full array of power amenities such as steering, brakes, windows, seats and even a powered radio antenna. A specially anodized golden grille was available at no extra cost, as were the unique sabre wheels, available in polished aluminum or in gold tone, either available at no extra cost. About the only accessory one could order was air-conditioning. With a base price of $6,711, the extra $538 for keeping the car cool was less than 10% of the total cost. Interiors were appointed in all leather, however, a fabric inserts were available for the seville. Just, 2,150 sevilles were produced in the model’s premiere year, and while not a money-maker for the brand, it was an image-maker that was positive in every way. The car – finished in its original bahama blue, accompanied by the gleaming white vicodee fabric roof, this example of the 1956 seville is picture perfect. So stunning is this color combination that this selection was used in a number of factory brochures and advertisements for the best that cadillac had to offer. It is fitted with all the power accessories that were standard, such as power steering and brakes, as well as windows and a six-way power front seat. It is also fitted with the optional air conditioning, which was a “must” when meeting the social elite. While the original owner opted for the less flamboyant golden grille, they did opt for the gold-tone sabre wheels which really sets off the visual impact of this fabulous ride. The interior in finished in a two-tone of blue and gray leathers and all of the interior extras appear to be in excellent condition. Showing just under 34,100 miles, which are believed to be from new, this is an outstanding example of america’s leadership in the world of automotive production during the mid-1950’s. Eldorado’s styling in 1956 set it apart from the rest of the cadillac line with rear end design that was a signal to what was coming in future years. The eldorado seville was an instant classic, bringing the most luxurious ride on wheels into hardtop beauty for the very first time, and this example deserves to be in a collection of only the finest quality. I am representing and assisting an elderly car enthusiast friend who has been a long time collector of primarily post-war american classic automobiles who desires to reduce his inventory. Some are originals in surprisingly good condition while others have had varying degrees of professional restoration. Most vehicles were purchased in the chicago area 20 to 35 years ago and initial restorations were undertaken, if required, at that time. Most all of the vehicles were not driven but were put on display and have since been stored in ventilated, insulated dry storage. Currently all vehicles reside in dry storage in port townsend, washington. Please be advised that the owner will share in reasonable transport costs. The vehicle featured in this ad is a 1958 cadillac eldorado brougham 4 door hardtop with chamonix white exterior and tuxedo black and white leather interior. Both the interior and exterior have been restored by a cadillac specialist. A repaired “short” in the lock mechanism required the interior door panel removal and they will require re-installation. The original gas tank fuel pump was replaced with an aftermarket exterior mounted unit since access to the tank mounted unit required extensive removal of rear components of the car i. Also, the bumpers were not plated and were instead polished as the magnesium alloy did not accept plating readily and degradation of the chrome finish was common. These two items of change were at the recommendation of a cadillac restoration professional. 38,000 original miles on the odometer…asking $105,000 vin# 58p010027 from wikipedia: the cadillac eldorado is a personal luxury car that was manufactured and marketed by cadillac from 1953 to 2002 over ten generations. The eldorado was at or near the top of the cadillac line during early model years. The original 1953 eldorado convertible and the eldorado brougham models of 1957–1960 were the most expensive models that cadillac offered those years, and the eldorado was never less than second in price after the cadillac series 75 until 1966. On 1958 2-door eldorado, a v-shaped ornament and model identification script were mounted to the deck lid. Two-door eldorado also had ten vertical chevron slashes ahead of the open rear wheel housings and crest medallions on the flank of the tail-fins. Broad, sculptured beauty panels decorated the lower rear quarters on all series 62 eldorado and extended around the wheel opening to stretch along the body sills. The major changes to the eldorado brougham in 1958 were seen inside the car. The interior upper door panels were finished in leather instead of the metal finish used in 1957. New wheel covers also appeared. A total of 304 eldorado broughams were sold in 1958. 1958 was the last year for the domestic production of the hand-built brougham at cadillac's detroit factory, as future manufacturing of the special bodies was transferred to pininfarina of turin, italy.

The car was re-sprayed several years ago in the original color, there are a few small areas where surface rust has started to come through near the bottom of the rear quarter panel in the wheel well area. The interior is all original, there is a crack on the dash, and cracks on the door arm rests. The white vinyl top is original and in excellent shape, no rust bubbles or "crunchy" areas detected underneath
